Rockstar didn't just drop a trailer, they dropped a supply chain crisis.

Standalone PS5 Pro units are sold out at Best Buy, Amazon, Target, basically everywhere except PS Direct (still hanging on at MSRP like the last sober guy at the party). Scalpers meanwhile are asking up to $1,300 for a $899.99 console, because nothing says "I understand supply and demand" like reselling a box with a slightly better GPU in it.

Somewhere in Rockstar HQ, a marketing exec is framing this trailer's release timing and hanging it on the wall next to their bonus check.

I suppose this was inevitable. Hardware is expensive to make, and Sony is charging a lot for it. There's only so many they will make.

Not a surprise based on what the extended look showed. Rockstar at the very least, played it very very safe. Hopefully that's what they did because if the entire game is actually like that it's going to end up a disappointment overall. The graphics looked great, but the gameplay looked mid and the characters are terribly boring.

Fact is Rockstar announced that GTAVI is digital only and people still pre ordered it in absurd numbers. People pre ordered something, that can't, become, scarce...
So ya, after what was shown in the extended look, "captured on PS5", it's obvious more of those types would rush out to buy PS5's.

The early bird may get the worm, but I'm no fan of worms, unless I'm using them to catch fish. I'd rather wait for something better good to come, especially when SNY is flat out telling everyone they're going to milk their existing userbase for the foreseeable future.

Xbox Series X seems to be sold out at Best Buy too.

However I'm unsure if it's thanks to the GTA VI boost or not.

PS5 Pro is currently unavailable on PS Direct now as well in USA and UK.

Was available in both when I checked last night.

Sold out in certain toy and game stores in holland to ps5 pro and the digital version, only the wolferine pre order are still up

Yes Sony have said sales will be limited by the amount they manufacture this year because of limited availability of memory at reasonable pricing.

It's still a good sign for increasing demand.

Lol I really don't get gamers any longer. Their willingness to spend ridicolous amounts of money for tiny performance boosts will never make sense to me. You'd think the combination of the perceptible upgrades in graphics stagnating completely and hardware doubling in price would have some sort of effect, but apparently not much.

I can understand upgrading your hardware if you're at least a full generation behind but otherwise not so much.
