I bought a gamecube for reseident evil 4. Returned them both when i was done  in about 2 or 3 days. lol. It was a big franchise who ripped people off, so i didn't feel the shame of returning and claiming it was faulty. I should have kept the gamecube though, missed out on some classic games. Though i was a playstation guy back then.

Bought a wii u for zelda both. Got a switch when totk released.  I'm glad i got the switch, got to experience metroid for the first time. And pikmin.

If you dig through the rubble there is some great stuff on Switch. I"? Going to assume you haven't played many Nintendo games based off of your post. If not try Fire Emblem three houses, if the aesthetics and Tactical gameplay is no bother for you it's absolutely phenomenal. Astral Chain is another great one.

I would ..
I am not a multiplayer guy, since it's rare for multiplayer game or such that has multiplayer to hold me, but GTA IV is one of my favorite ones, both single player and multiplayer.
If they release GTA IV Remastered for the PS5 with it's multiplayer I am buying PS5 right away. This multiplayer is so much fun for me and way better than the GTA Online, that I would took it over even GTA VI. Or at least my excitement for such a release would be bigger..

It's usually 1 game over others that gets me to buy a system. I see nothing wrong with it because I'll always get more games I find interesting. Sometime you need that one big push.

Got a Xbox for Halo: CE. 100% worth it.
Got a Gameboy color for Pokémon Gold
Got a Gameboy SP for Pokémon Emerald
Got a Xbox 360 for Halo 3
Got a Ps3 for Last of Us

I will buy ps5 for Intergalactic (propably).

I actually did so for the first console I purchased with my own money. I bought a PS1 for Final Fantasy 7. It was the only reason I was even remotely interested in the system. I did eventually get a couple of other games for the PS1, but without FF7 I never would have bothered, and the N64 was still my console of choice that generation.

To be honest, no.

I doubt a single game would make me buy a console. All systems I got along the years were purchased because of multiple games.

Great thread, Legit...and I see it originated back in September.

True story guys, and this is NOT anecdotal...no matter how much you think my prior posts are just BS :)

Back in the 90s, one of my friends showed up at my room with a SNES console and the game "Super Conflict"

At the time, I thought the game, an RTS one as I recall, was cool, but nothing special.

However, another friend of mine (who I shall call 'Pete') who was also in my room, was completely blown away by it.

So, on that same day, Pete went to the local mall and bought a SNES and SC together at "Electronics Boutique" (any of you remember that store?)

and played the game all day long at the apartment he shared with his GF.

Hours later, his GF told him that "we cannot afford this on our credit card, you have to return them both to EB"

The next day, Pete returned both items for a refund.

I once got the Vita (second hand though) because I just wanted to play the Uncharted game on it.

Since I posted this thread, I now have a PS5. If I didn't already have a PS5 and I were to know how good Stellar Blade is, I'd def buy the ps5 for that game alone. It is taking actually will power to keep myself playing new games and not simply do more runs of Stellar Blade, Like Sekiro I could play consecutive runs one after another and not loose joy, especially if they added a new higher difficulty mode.
