Although things don't look promising for reaching the 160-million mark, my questions (and hopes) are:

Will the remaining inventory continue to sell without issues? If so, perhaps Nintendo could produce one final batch so that retailers still have stock for a few months.

Will there be a sales boost prior to discontinuation that wouldn't have happened otherwise?

Did Nintendo already factor this change into their estimates?

I imagine the reports coming out on August 6th or 7th will give us a clearer picture.

Switch would’ve had this in the bag had it got a price drop like you’d expect a decade old console to get. Really frustrating

Nintendo does not care about an arbitrary number of consoles sold, they are a business about making money. Not lowering the price has so far probably made them more money than a price cut and reaching 160 M sold consoles would have.

i agree with hyrulian scrolls though, if they had a price drop theyd have probably gotten there and i agree with him about the part where he said it was frustrating. im not happy about the system being under 160 million still

Any predictions about the shipments data from the coming report ?
I think something around 500k. I can see the total becoming 156.4M or close to.

The last one was on May 8th. So 2 months have passed already .. Less than 1 month left until the next one, that should be on August 5th.

The difference between India and all the other countries is exactly the reason we're bringing it up in the first place. India only now is gonna have the Switch 1 officially released in its territory, at least that's what the rumor says. And having a console being officially released makes a difference. I know that because my country didn't get the Switch back when it was launched globally, only later, in 2020. The Switch popularity increased a lot after 2020 here. Things can be different in India since the Switch 1 is now a legacy console, though

It's amazing how Nintendo tried everything to prevent the Switch from becoming the best-selling console of all time. 

That's pretty much it. This is an arbitrary number that no one thinks about except weirdo sales enthusiasts like us :D

If/When Nintendo does surpass the PS2 number, there will be about 4 hours of discussion about it in the media... although four months for us after four years of speculation.
