I will be surprised if that doesn't take years to happen. It took years to happen in Brazil, and we only just got the first Nintendo game ever with PTBR dub with Star Fox! (And I like the dub better than the English one too btw, they did a really good job).

True, but Portugese helps a bit before. It's like there are no Flemish subtitles, but its close enough to Dutch that it doesn't impact that much. The Indian languages at the other hand, there is nothing close.

European Portuguese is usually only available in the European localization, which isn't the one we get in the Americas. Actually, I think Nintendo games haven't been having European Portuguese at all recently.

So .. Because it's getting discontinued in Europe that means that any hopes of continuing to sell it till 2030 like some people say, are no longer reasonable. I mean if they planned and wanted to sell it till then, then maybe they would've done a revision for Europe as well ? It's just doesn't feel normal to stop producing it for Europe, but continue to do so for another 3+ years for the rest of the world. If I have to bet, given that Nintendo simply accepted to just discontinue it there, rather than make a revision, means that they don't care as much and from that it's also very likely that their plans to discontinue it worldwide aren't that far, I would guess by end of 2027, or the end of the fiscal year ending march 2028.

THIS IS IT. They are finally going to do a much more budget friendly TV only model. They will introduce it in Europe first, then WW. *disclaimer* let a man believe.

A Switch 1 based TV only model would be awesome, if they would overclock the hell out of it. A Switch 1 swansong.

Instead we'll get a half assed Nintendo product nobody will want, most likely. Nintendo as a corporation isn't exactly inspiring anymore.

A great way to end the Switch's life would be a TV only model with faster ram and OC'd specs in a box. $150 USD.

Honestly this might sound crazy, but what if 15-20 or so years in the future Nintendo releases a Switch 1 mini as a limited time release that can play all the retro Switch 1 games, and count it towards its total sales numbers to outsell PS2.

Lol that could technically be possible. Only thing is that it would likely need to play actual cartridges of Switch 1 to actually be considered the same console or family of systems. Cause the NES & SNES mini consoles weren't counted in the SNES & NES's total. If they were SNES would be at around 54 Million sold since the mini sold around 5 million.

Assuming this current Switch 1 ends at around 158 Million, all the Switch 1 mini would need to do is sell 2 million to outsell PS2, which would certainly be do-able.

These are crazy reaches we're getting at right now but with the chances of the current Switch 1 looking so grim when it comes to getting to 160M we need to bring up any possibility at this point lol to give some hope to that idea.

I could see Nintendo maybe doing a Switch 1 mini maybe 30 years in future, but I highly doubt it'll have to option to play Switch 1 cartridges, especially now since an all digital future is clearly coming sooner rather than later. So a Switch 1 mini likely wouldn't be considered as the same console as the current Switch 1 to add those sales together.

So Switch 1 selling 0.66 this quarter actually quite a bit better than expected. Maybe not all hope is lost. But at the same time losing Europe in 2027 still gonna be a big hurdle to climb over

3.5 million to go

Do you all think the Switch 1 is gonna be benefited from the Switch 2's sales increase in September? If so, the changes of hitting 160 million sales is gonna be higher. One thing that is helping the Switch 1 a lot is the Switch 2's lineup. I mean, not having a main Pokémon, Mario and Zelda on the Switch 2 in its two years takes away the urgency to buy a Switch 2. On the opposite side of all this, the price increase do create an urgency to buy one. I am an example of this. I don't have a Switch 2 and I wouldn't buy it until the next 3D Mario or main Pokémon game, but I will this month bc of the price increase in September
