Yeah it has basically been over for a while but this combined with sales recently tanking in Japan is the final death blow for 160m. Its monthly sales are about to decline to not much higher than 100k and it'll probably drop below sub 50k a month next year then sell basically nothing in 2028 and that'll be that.

arent they going to sell in india? india has like a billion or something people. they could sell less than 1% of the people there and get to 160 million. that would be my plan if i were nintendo.

Okay, hear me out guys.
The Switch is at 156M right now, by itself it should get at least another 2 million, which will leave it just 2 million short. So here's what we do, this Christmas we form a charity to provide underprivileged children with playthings, call it something catchy like 'toys for tots'. And once we have the money we buy every kid on the list a Switch Lite. We can help the Switch hit its final goal and provide a Merry Christmas for millions of children. We only need $230 a kid - $460 million total - to make it work.

If its for a good cause like getting the switch to 160 million units, you can count me in 100%

Its only 4 million or so from 160, and its not all of Europe, its only the EU that has this battery law. Guess we will wait and see. I wouldnt be surprised if Nintendo launches a new mini switch lite on the market. It would be nice to have a really cheap affordable handheld device amongst the $500+ selection.

The price isn't magically cheaper in India. Why would anyone buy it in India? You think people are chomping at the bit in India to buy an old console with $100 games, with 2014 tablet hardware in it?

Consoles have the most value when they come out, IE in 2017...

why wouldnt they buy that?

If Nintendo didn't believe they would sell in India they wouldn't focus on it, production, packaging, advertising, shipping, employee hiring, etc all of this and more is required to enter into a new market, if Nintendo believes they would hardly sell anything why would they even bother?

It's not like you can't get a Switch in India if you've wanted one for the past 10 years lol. I don't see an official launch in India doing anything substantial even if there is truth to the rumours and they follow through amid the continuing rising costs.
