I don't care how long it takes as long as it happens

Yeah well that exactly the attitude you are going to need for this one.

As long as the switch is still being manufactured ill be happy.

Seems even in japan sales of the switch1 are slowing down a lot, not sure if 160mill can ever be reached.

Nintendo raising the price in Japan has effectively killed it off. They would have stood a better chance if they had a price freeze or even a discount on the lite.

Lite at about $99.99-$129.99 and the equivalent in most regions would've helped a lot. That's close to impulse purchase territory, or it is. The pricing isn't there right now for Switch with price increases.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Yea for sure. Given the inflation (compared to 15 years ago when other consoles were 99$ - 129$) even 150$ would be impulse buy.

Nintendo to discontinue the Nintendo Switch at least in EU before Spring 2027 due to changes in EU law regarding replaceable batteries.

Details in the Q&A section in the link:
https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Support/Nintendo-Switch-2/Information-about-upcoming-battery-related-revisions-to-some-Nintendo-products-3132901.html

“What does that mean for Nintendo Switch consoles in Europe?

Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model will all continue to be manufactured in 2026, and should be widely available in Europe all year.

From mid-February 2027, almost ten years after Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, Nintendo will no longer sell to retailers hardware in the Nintendo Switch family of systems – specifically Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model. Sales of Nintendo Switch hardware on Nintendo Store will also end in mid-February 2027.

Regarding availability at retail, please check with your local retailers in the future for more information. Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of games that continues to grow, and Nintendo Switch owners can continue to enjoy all their existing Nintendo games and accessories, and Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Switch Online, and other services will all continue for the foreseeable future.”

It only makes sense, Why revise a 10+ year old console on its way out.

Europe sales for Switch have gone down the most. Though this still makes it even less likely it will reach 160m.

So can we assume there will be no newer model? usual Nintendo does a smaller version of their systems towards the end of their life. (NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Wii, just to name a few)
