Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo Quarterly Sales Update: Switch at 150.86m shipped, Mario Party Jamboree at 6.17m

Nice. Around what I expected. @trunkswd Will there be any adjustments needed for the Switch numbers on the website ?

My primary threads:

Ultimate Showdowns: JP 2023 / JP 2024 / JP 2025 / 2025 / 2024 / 2023 / 20222021

Lifetime Showdowns: Global / Regional / Historical / YOY Charts / 150M+ Club Chart

Polls: When will the Switch: Outsell the DS? / Outsell the PS2? / LT expectations of: Switch / PS5 / XBSX

Their lack of (new) holiday deals is really showing. Still great numbers of course, but it's been a little dissapointing to watch them go out with a fizzle over the last year in most places outside Japan when they could have kept their momentum going by bundling Mario Wonder, TotK or Smash with the system (since a pricecut was never likely).

Kudos on reaching 150M, massive milestone almost never touched.

Also we are about to have a new gen pokemon overtaking an older gen in the same system, and I think that will be a first.

Gen 2 didn't surpass Gen 1.

Gen 5 didn't surpass Gen 4.

Gen 7 didn't surpass Gen 6.

Also, as a bonus, the Gen 5 direct sequel also did not surpass it either.

But it looks like Gen 9 is about to surpass Gen 8.

😳😳😳😳57,83 million in "americas"?!? Does that mean the Switch is heavely undertracked there and that the DS will be surpassed in a few weeks there?!?! Also Nintendo sold 3DS sold 0,06 million games, very tiny but quite telling!

No, since if you refer to the 57.92M number for the DS, that is only for North America. In the Americas I am not sure what is the exact number, probably something around 60M or above.

I remember when people were swearing up and down that, if Nintendo did a 15m forecast, they surely would get there somehow, while I was like, nah, they won't reach.

But they did meet their 15 million forcast last FY? They ended up exceeding it at 15.5 million.

Of course I know what you are talking about in your "attempt" but the forcast for this year was 13.5 million. Reduced to 12.5 and now 11 million. Pokemon Legends ZA was revealed in the leak to been planned for a holiday 2024 release.

After 8 years you can miss a forcast. Can happen. Like you said, they where planning with Pokémon Legends ZA. If that came out, sales would have been a lot higher!

Pokemon Legends ZA was announced for a 2025 release before the last fiscal year even began, over 2 months before the 13.5m forecast was given. So the forecast of 13.5m was not anticipating a Pokemon Legends holiday if that's what you're implying.
