Forums - Sales - Black Friday Sales - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for Nov 20-26

Amazing what Nintendo can achieve when they focus on games, games, games (as well as functionality and user-friendly interface) vs gimmicks/bells and whistles like the Wii U. Slightly less impressive considering the machine occupies both the handheld and home console gaming markets (get the sales of Wii + DS combined and I'd truly be impressed), but still a major accomplishment especially given the sales of its predecessor.

Switch sales are truly impressive in this day and age where there are so many gaming options to choose from. Never would've thought a dedicated gaming console would reach these heights again. Especially considering the time it took for switch to get where it is today, and sales are still going strong.

Think for yourself, question authority

Source for Sony doesn’t focus on Europe anymore? It’s their biggest market.

U.K. is relatively small compared to the rest of Europe. It wouldn’t be surprising for Sony to ship more consoles elsewhere besides U.K.

Sony produced a ton of stock this year.  They purposely held back over 3M just for the holidays. The had over 6M last quarter.

Those numbers for Europe are comical. All the numbers are.

I haven't seen any PS5 available in stores in Europe for the whole year. I even sold my Digital Edition above its price since the demand was way too high

Same here in Luxembourg, which is highly unusual. I mean, even the Wii was readily available here outside of the launch period, so having a console not being available anywhere is simply not something you'd see before the PS5 in Luxembourg. And no, that's not due to very high demand, but simply due to very low supply.

So the numbers showing Playstation selling the least and ranking third in its strongest terrotiry? Doesnt make sense at all to me. Those numbers will be adjusted for sure.

They will. Last year original numbers when the weekly data came out were:

Switch: over 1.6M

PS5: over 800k

XBSX: over 850k

After half a year and numerous adjustments overtime they got to a total final of:

Switch: over 1.4M

PS5: 350k

XBSX: over 600k

So Switch got cut by 200k, PS5 by a whopping almost 500k and XBSX by decent ~ 250k. So this black friday week (as the last year's one) will probably get its final numbers by sometime of summer 2023, and close to the final ones by april/may 2023 (when the quorter report comes out). I think PS5 500k adjustment this year would be too big. However like the Switch and XBSX last year adjustments were around 200-250k I expect this year to be about the same. So I would't be surprised if by april/may or even the summer the black friday numbers you all see now are something like this:

Switch: 1.1M to 1.2M

XBSX: 1M to 1.1M

PS5: 800k to 900k

Other than that, yes, very good numbers indeed. Finally week with all three over 1M(which I think won't be the case after adjustments, but still).

The last 10 years have reinforced just how volatile and unpredictable the gaming industry can be.
Not only was the Switch outselling the PS4 considered crazy, but few predicted that the Wii U would stumble so badly, or that the PS4/XBO battle would go the way it did after PS3 and 360 fought to a practical draw. It just goes to show, never say never.

VGChartz overtracked PS5 more than double the Switch or XBox Series that week last year?  That doesn't match up with the conspiracy theory that VGChartz purposely undertracks the PS5 for the sole purpose of making Sony look bad.

So NPD is out today.......
