William I have a doubt.

I love to make my own graphs but I need to copy every week by week.

Is there any place in VGchartz where i can find the weekly data ordered as excel?

Thanks!

Switch Black Friday week sales:

  • 2017 - 847,754
  • 2018 - 1,380,280
  • 2019 - 1,855,859
  • 2020 - 1,673,741
  • 2021 - 1,459,157
  • 2022 - 1,298,185

Lower than 2018 ? How come ?

It’s still a great result. In previous years stock was scarce leading up to the big holiday. That wasn’t the case this year. There is also the idea of “how many Switches can we actually sell to the same consumers.”  There hasn’t been a revision since the OLED, which could impact sales as well.

Finally, there were plenty of options with Sony and Microsoft having plenty of units on offer, sales that in previous years may have defaulted to the Switch.

But still, great sales and the holidays are definitely not over

The same damn MK8DX bundle and maybe less concentrated stock.

This will probably be the final Black Friday week that Switch sells 1 million or more, but nearly 1.3 million when the platform is pushing 6 years old is really impressive.
If Switch 2 is announced before Black Friday 2023, Switch will probably sell around 700,000-775,000. If it's still unannounced, Switch can probably manage 800,000-850,000.

The Series S seems to have paid off this week for Microsoft. I don't think the Series would've finished second globally and first in North America with just the Series X. I'd much rather buy a Series X, but the Series S is cheaper and easier to manufacture and find in stores.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

I went to check Black Friday numbers for the 360. US numbers only because of the nature of the holiday.

2006 - 240,000
2007 - 292,000
2008 - 417,000
2009 - 311,000
2010 - 604,000
2011 - 1,061,000
2012 - 951,000
2013 - 652,000

2022 - 840,000

I dare say Microsoft is quite happy with this years numbers.

So in the end it took around 5 years and 9 months for the Switch to outsell the PS4.
The question now is how much higher can it fly, and it's hard to say with practically no indication of how long until its successor.
Nintendo's FY forecast projects 125 million by the end of March 2023. From there, over 130m is a given, and over 140m very likely unless Nintendo pulls the plug completely shortly thereafter.
So it seems likely that it will finish more than 20 million ahead of PS4, a very decisive victory.

I really wonder how high the the PS5 and Xbox Series would've gone if Europe got more stock. Considering things were still notably limited by stock with sales this high shows that 2023 could be nuts. And the Series S is helping a lot to make up for the poor first party lineup.
