Honestly, depending on how far back they want to go in Graphic Card/CPU support... the testing/optomizing for something like this accross componet combos has be daunting to say the least.  Not to mention they way want to take time to add additional graphical support.  Also, GTA 6 online adds yet another wrinkle because they probably want to get that up and running so the whole package comes on PC at the same time (after launching and stabalizing on console).  Also, at that point they will essentially have the next gen version (whatever PC's ultra setting are) so when the decide to launch that is up in the aire too.

So much bullshit surrounding this game already. $80, code in a box, story content locked behind the ultimate edition ($100), online may not be added for a year or more, PC version may not be released until 2028 at the earliest.

I just don't know what to expect.

Story locked behind a paywall?

Are we back into the bad PS3 games era?

I least those that the locked content on the disc, because GTA doesn't even have one to lock it into lol.

People will eat regardless. Thats what the dudebros/casual audience have all eyes for. They wont bother with any of it. They didn't invest on a 400-600$ system to collect dust.

Even many here that loudly display their standards on how companies should treat its costumers and how modern gaming sucks yada yada, I know they will be jumpin on it the moment it releases, if not placing their preorder already

40M-60M

It's side story stuff probably not related to the main plot or characters, but it's fucked up to pay $80 for an incomplete game with no true physical option. "Day 1 DLC" sucks but if the base game has enough content, then I'll overlook it. I ain't paying a cent over $80 though, I'll watch the extra stuff on YouTube.

I can see them releasing the proper disc version not long after launch and pissing off early "physical" adopters lol.

Hopefully this delayed physical release approach doesn't become standard, because the $80 pricing probably will, and that's enough shit for GTA VI to bring to Playstation.

I’m feeling 40-60M (though more precisely 35-50M). Trailer views still indicate that consumer hype/interest exist, but nothing like in December 2023. At $80USD, the price tag will not be an issue. For only having one month on the market in 2026, it’d be crazy for sales to exceed 60M so quickly, esp when such a large portion of consumers will be holding out for the PC release (seeing as PS5 Pro is sitting comfortably at $900USD IIRC?)… but this is GTAVI. So anything is possible.

The poll is until the end of 2027, not 2026. I am resetting it..

My primary threads:

Ultimate Showdowns: JP 2023 / JP 2024 / JP 2025 / JP 2026 / 2026 / 2025 / 2024 / 2023 / 2022 / 2021

Lifetime Showdowns: Global / Regional / Historical / YOY Charts / 150M+ Club Chart

PS5 vs SW2 in 2026 / Biggest months, years and holidays / When will the Switch pass 160M? / LT expectations of: Switch / PS5 / XBSX / Switch 2

The poll is reset .. Vote on the new one now! (the old one is in the bottom of the original post).
Reminding everyone again, this is until end of 2027 (not 2026). So it's full 1 year and ~6 weeks after launch. The data for the other games in the series in the original post is also for the first full year after launch.

Well, as it'll have 6 months more of sales, including a holiday, than my prediction that was based on an April 2027 potential release, I'll redo it.

35M was my prediction, 50M is the new one considering it will launch in a holiday and have another one late 2027.

So, 50M.

Ag my bad. In that case, I could see +60M easy. Not sure about over 80M. So my range is 60-75M. (Voting 50-70M.)

I choose 50-70 million with a no PC/other platform release until after 2027
