LPDDR prices are experiencing a greater surge than GDDR, so if the reports are accurate and the PS6 handheld has 24GB of RAM (twice as much as Switch 2 and faster), it's going to be very expensive. And since Playstation game file sizes are larger and can't be played directly from a cartridge, it'll probably come with a 512 GB SSD, which is also twice the storage of Switch 2. So even before factoring in the superior CPU and GPU, it will cost a lot more than Switch 2. |
RAM can be changed though. Sony apparently originally intended to go with 4GB for the PS4 and then quickly changed it to 8GB last minute because of developer feedback. The PS6P chipset in a console shell also wouldn't require an expensive screen, battery and cooling system. I agree with the 512 GB as that's the bare minimum, but it would be tiny like the PS Vita TV, so you save so much on just the materials alone. It's the only choice they have for a product at a mass market price.

If they have shipped almost 94million already.... the last 6 million to reach 100m, could come from the holiday season alone (this year).
So it will break 100m, regardless.
It's not that hard, simply prolong the generation until 2030.
Clearly gamers don't want and need PS6, cuz PS5 potential is not yet fully fulfilled as it was PS3 and PS4 in it's latest years. We just started to receive games that are not available on the PS4, and the developers are also fine with the tech now and for the next few years. Economics are also not on the manufacturer's sides. Similar things happened with 7th gen. Economics were bad in 2008, and they prolonged the generation until 2013. In that case however, on top of that PS3 and 360 were showing it's age as early as 2010. And I remember reading articles back then as early as 2010 some developers having trouble with the outdated tech or memory in those consoles. Now the situation is a lot better from that standpoint, which only means that if in such situation you can prolong the generation by some 2 years ? (if it was originally scheduled for 2011) then why not prolong it now when no one is desperate for new tech by some 2 years until 2030 ?

Have you ever seen his posts before? Check out the road to 160M for Switch thread for a good laugh at some of the ridiculous things he says.

Oooo okej!! Xd i understand lol
I think 100 million this year should be achievable if Sony has some nice bundles and discounts for the Holiday (as long as theres no more price increases)

That reminds me the famous joke here who said PS4 won't be above Wii sales.
