Im still holding out hope itll be under 100 million

Keep dreaming. It will break 100M for sure, but I don't think it will reach 110M, not at this price.

If they have shipped almost 94million already.... the last 6 million to reach 100m, could come from the holiday season alone (this year).
So it will break 100m, regardless.

That really sucks man

Why you "hope" that? Thats strange.

How is it strange? People hope things for sales all the time.

That reminds me the famous joke here who said PS4 won't be above Wii sales.

Im not making a prediction, im just being hopeful. There is a huge difference there. I know ps5 will reach 100 million but im holding out hope that with the price increases and with the switch 2 being a more attractive option, maybe itll have an abysmal Q3. Im allowed to hope.

it is understood that people have preferences but in general we are able to see that the best case for our hobby is to have multiple players in the market.  As a collective of consumers we see that healthy competition is desireable and provides us more leverage over corporations.   We understand that Valve not being able to provide mass market appeal is a loss to all of us.  Regardless of how we feel about Microsoft, we are remoursely for tradegy that is Xbox sales.  Perhaps you are thankful for the ram crisis.  We are not.

With this attitude, you're giving Nintendo fans a bad rep on this site and I think the vast majority of us would agree that this is not the way to treat this topic. It's cool to have your favorite company and Nintendo is in a very good position to be the market leader in the years to come, but in this current industry climate we should all hope that dedicated console sales stay healthy and don't tank. The market needs multiple players and hoping for a collapse of Playstation sales after Xbox has basically evaporated already is not right.

It's still very doable. They could just repurpose the PS6P handheld chip and put it into a console shell. As long as it performs similarly to a PS5, you've got 50 million right there easy because Xbox will not have any product with mass market price point. Only competitor will be Switch 2 and performance wise it will beat that easily

You think people are going to buy a console that is basically a PS5, but with only 512GB of storage? Who in their right mind would "upgrade" to this? Sony for decades has cultivated a fanbase that wants the most powerful console on the market. They are not going to entice their fans with "here's another PS5 LOL, go buy the new one for 600$ for no reason".

I'm forecasting 3 million units shipped this quarter, another 3 million next quarter. 5 million in the holiday quarter. The PS5 would reach 105 million units shipped by the end of the year. For next year, my forecast is 10 million units. totaling 115 million by the end of 2027.

Would you guys relax jeez im not hoping sony disinegrates or stops making consoles, id just prefer them not to have 100 million selling systems. Isnt in the 90s enough? If it were up to me theyd sell like 40 to 50 million which should be more than enough. Is it really that surprising that i would want there to be some sort of limit to what id want a playstation console to sell? Should i be hoping for them to sell 200 million ps6s? Would that make any sense?
