Would you guys relax jeez im not hoping sony disinegrates or stops making consoles, id just prefer them not to have 100 million selling systems. Isnt in the 90s enough? If it were up to me theyd sell like 40 to 50 million which should be more than enough. Is it really that surprising that i would want there to be some sort of limit to what id want a playstation console to sell? Should i be hoping for them to sell 200 million ps6s? Would that make any sense?

Its verry strange, let me guess you hope only nintendo will reach 100mill lol, dayum iam so happy i left being a fanboy behind me.

If it keeps up with price inceases switch2 wont even reach the 100mill.

Yes, obviously i hope nintendo is the only company to sell hardware over 100 million. Of course i hope that. Why would i want another company to have more 100 million sellers than nintendo? Let me ask you this, if the ps6 could sell 200 million consoles, would you be actively rooting for that?

And by the way, as someone mentioned earlier about xbox, i dont hope xbox fails at all. In fact, i want them to go back to making lots of exclusives and sell maybe 30 million consoles a generation.

The xbox series is the first major system from any generation that i do not own, and thats because there just isnt any reason to. Id love to buy their system and id love of they had a bunch of great exclusives. So stop acting like im some sort of villain because i want nintendo to sell the most. Most people feel that way about their favorite company, so im not the abnormal one.

You are just too much of a fanboy, nobody is acting about you being a villain, just reacting to your fanboysm posts.

Everybody has their prefferences, yes, nobody lacks a degree of bias. The way you think and choose to present yours get you the responses you get, tho.

If you want to be a fanboy, be about that great cat in your picture, that one is actually passive of being blindly liked by all.

It's still very doable. They could just repurpose the PS6P handheld chip and put it into a console shell. As long as it performs similarly to a PS5, you've got 50 million right there easy because Xbox will not have any product with mass market price point. Only competitor will be Switch 2 and performance wise it will beat that easily

You think people are going to buy a console that is basically a PS5, but with only 512GB of storage? Who in their right mind would "upgrade" to this? Sony for decades has cultivated a fanbase that wants the most powerful console on the market. They are not going to entice their fans with "here's another PS5 LOL, go buy the new one for 600$ for no reason".

You are seriously underestimating the component crisis. It's not about having an appealing console anymore., it's about whether they can make ANYTHING near a mass market price. The PS5 is very big and bulky, and not cost effective to ship or manufacture. Sony will have 0 competition next gen so it doesn't matter if people find it appealing or not. So, i'm pretty sure what they'll do is, just put the "canis" chipset in a small shell like they did with the ps vita TV. It's much cheaper to produce and ship than PS5 due to it's size and simplicity. It's their only option

Noo, i dont really care tbh, i just want thr gaming industry back like it was before, not the crap is has become.

By your fanboy logic.

Sony ps is the first system ever to reach 100mill

First console ever to reach 1bill software sold(and thats WITHOUT cheap as digital games)

Sony has 3(and this year 4 100mill selling home consoles)

Sony is the ONLY one who can still produce a deticated home console and sell 100mill.

I am not - you are either underestimating the predicament Sony is in or you misread what I wrote or I didn't state my point properly. I am simply stating the obvious: Sony's fanbase already owns a PS5. They are not going to replace a PS5 with basically another PS5 and spend $700 on that. Why would 50 million people spend a lot of dollars for no graphical upgrade? That's just a waste of money.

Sony has cultivated a fanbase that wants high fidelity graphics and is focused on them. Nintendo has no problem selling a relatively "weak" (compared to a home console) hybrid to its customer base because their customers don't care that much for cutting edge technology. But Sony cannot do that. Sony needs to sell consoles that are powerful and relatively affordable. Sony is selling to upmarket customers, while Nintendo caters more to the downmarket. You are a prime example of this: You have been going on non-stop for a year about how the Switch 2 is a terrible value proposition because it's too weak. Just look at the Switch 2 performance thread. But suddenly a super weak home console by 2027 standards is cool and a great idea? Really?

Microsoft has the same value proposition as Sony and they already do have a cheaper, mass-market friendly, weaker console. How well is the Series S selling right now?

Also, if you think Sony will have "zero competition next gen" while Nintendo is getting more and more third party games and is selling more consoles than Sony, you are missing something very obvious.

I didn't misinterpret you. The reason it will sell 50 million is because the PS5 will be discontinued to make way for their new models. Even if all their old users stuck with PS5, there's always new consoles being sold, and they'd have to buy the new model because PS5 can't be had. I don't think Sony cares anymore if you stick with PS5 or get the new model. They know the crossgen period will practically last the entire generation anyway.

Sony doesn't need to care about what fanbase wants anymore. Is MS going to challenge them? nope. Is Switch 2 a threat to PS5 or any new models of Playstation. Not really. Nintendo is getting more third party but realistically right now, GTA6 is by far what matters the most and it doesn't have that yet.

Sony doesn't need to try anymore. They'll just put out whatever is a good compromise for their profits and consumer affordability. There is no equivalent of the XBSX next gen, something that was capable of making the PS5 look bad. It might technically exist, but im only referring to hardware at a mass market price.

A low to medium percentage will buy the PS6 but I don't think it matters. Sony's fanbase never wanted "the most powerful console on the market". PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS5 were all weaker than some of the direct competitors. They just appreciated the generational wow factor like everyone else. The current generation's leap in graphics being small has already conditioned Sony's playerbase and gamers at large to no longer expect crazy generational jumps, hence Playstation is bigger and more successful than ever despite the countless challenges.

Game development not being determined by the start of a new generation is actually great for Sony. Nintendo is the one that has it rough at the moment in the sense that they can't rely on the obsolete Switch 1 during this crisis the way Sony will rely on PS5. According to Valve, 70% of active PC's are weaker than the new Steam Machine (which is around PS5 level). The PS5 might remain relevant and popular for a very long time. I think Playstation will be a lot like PC, with the great majority of gamers choosing the PS5 and weak-ish gaming PC's over PS6 and mid/highend PC's from 2027 and up. CrossGen and scalability may future proof the PS5.

Nintendo's 3rd party support will dramatically improve, but I don't expect many of the existing PC/PS/Xbox gamers to jump ships to Switch 2. I don't think Nintendo will be able to keep Switch 2 prices reasonable for too long. Out of everyone, they're in the most need to build an installbase, so the RAM and NAND crisis is especially troubling for them.

Have you ever seem me wishing for it to bomb and not reach those numbers?

There is a very big difference to how you approch your prefferences and I do mine.
