No forecast given. This is the best we got.
"We plan to base our PS5 hardware sales in FY26 on the volume of memory we can procure at reasonable prices and we expect hardware profitability to be essentially the same as FY25."

If Sony's not even able to forecast their upcoming fiscal year, then I think I'll confidently say that I'm out of this discussion for a little bit lol. Way too many unknowns to say whether PS5 has another 20M or 50M left in the tank.
Hardware sales may come to a crawl. Sony's aim for the next 5 years or so will be trying to retain its existing playerbase by keeping them active on the hardware they already own. They're projecting a decline in revenue and a big increase in operating profits. High profits make sense now that the worst days of failed acquisitions and live service projects are behind them.
I wonder how long before they go full Microsoft and stop reporting hardware sales lol. Just don't be surprised if the pricing situation gets a lot worse than it is now. Really hard to make meaningful predictions without knowing future prices.

It's over.
PS5 is averaging at $672~ in the US according to Mat Piscatella. Don't be surprised if the average goes up to $800 in the coming years.
I'll predict future console prices while I'm at it:
Switch 2: $600-$650
PS6 handheld: $1000
PS6: $1100
Helix: $1600

Yea,mass market console apeal is over. Noo waay any next gen console is gonne sell 50mill units

It's still very doable. They could just repurpose the PS6P handheld chip and put it into a console shell. As long as it performs similarly to a PS5, you've got 50 million right there easy because Xbox will not have any product with mass market price point. Only competitor will be Switch 2 and performance wise it will beat that easily

LPDDR prices are experiencing a greater surge than GDDR, so if the reports are accurate and the PS6 handheld has 24GB of RAM (twice as much as Switch 2 and faster), it's going to be very expensive. And since Playstation game file sizes are larger and can't be played directly from a cartridge, it'll probably come with a 512 GB SSD, which is also twice the storage of Switch 2. So even before factoring in the superior CPU and GPU, it will cost a lot more than Switch 2.
