Forums - Sales - Why is this site so slow on updating numbersq

The weekly numbers vs monthly numbers are on the same time rotation

This place is being held together with scotch tape and faith alone. I'm amazed as much stuff works as it does.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

They wait for official updates (Circana, European Reports, Famitsu) before updating the sales,

In the past they used to give weekly updates, but it had to be adjusted after the official numbers, so now they just wait for it.

As far as I remember, the site onwer is not involved with any of updates for years now, some admin(s) asked him to let them take over the updates to keep up the data, and I don't think they make much money if any with this site traffic based on how slow this forums are and have been for a long time now, so we are basically getting estimates from people working when they can, just so the site doesn't die, because they like it.

I may be mistaken or not up with how it is now, but I do remember someone posting once that they tried buying the site from the onwer but, at least by then, all they got was permission to keep running the site and getting the revenue as payment, but not ownership.

So if we are getting anything at all, it's mostly out of good will.

We decided to make a change to posting the figures monthly for two reasons. 1. This means the initial estimates will be more accurate and less adjustments will be needed. 2. I was getting burnt out posting the figures weekly and doing frequent adjustments, so a change had to be made.

then maybe can drop the weekly numbers and only keep the monthly ones.

Thank you for the work you do, this place is important to some of us, I've lived nearly half my life being a member on vgchartz.

We only post the data monthly, so we post all the weeks in a given month at the same time.

I appreciate it. I've been part of VGChartz for a long time and would hate to see it go away.

Damn, I just realised that I'm in the same boat. I actually went past the half life mark. So indeed, kudos to everyone who is still maintaining it. This means quite a lot!

Edit: Mummelmann I just noticed that I made my account just one day after you made yours. WAY back in '07 :D
