Kickstarter for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is live!

in Gaming Discussion 16 hours ago

Deserves more attention, Kingmaker is a fantastic and rather unique game for any fan of isometric RPG's from the golden era of the genre. Give it a go, it's super cheap on GOG most of the time! ...

Switch owners, did you have a Wii U/3DS?

in Nintendo Discussion 5 days ago

Don't have a Wii U, never had a handheld Nintendo console in my life, and only one handheld ever (Atari Lynx). The 1st party games enticed me for a Switch, but I don't use its handheld mode at all, I simply dislike handheld gaming. Pro controller is among the best controllers I ever tried, which also helps! ...

What is your favorite type of RPG?

Mnementh said: Mummelmann said: I recently took up D&D myself as well, with some of the kids at work (I work with autistic kids and youth). Been so long, but I still love it, I like being the dungeon master and setting them up all the time. We use the 3rd edition, as it's the one I'm familiar with, and it has somewhat deeper mechanics that I enjoy. Needless to say; the kids are...

HoloDust said: Mummelmann said: It didn't garner much attention where I lived, still riding on the wave of the massive and epic BG2, it was sidelined by most. The console space was also accelerating at the time, gamer habits changed a lot in the early 2000's. Two of my favorite titles in the genre since the golden days are actually indie productions, Pathfinder: Kingmaker and...

Well, to be honest, Arcanum was quite hard to miss if one was into computer RPGs back in those days. I liked it fine, though I'm not really fan of mixing magic and steampunk, but I feel it got overshadowed in 2001 by Gothic and...

What is your favorite type of RPG?

in Gaming Discussion on 13 February 2020

Isometric RPG's with party mechanics is my all-time favorite. Love the combination of strategy, proper roleplaying and large worlds, the ability to pause is also welcome (not to mention essential for tough encounter). For anyone of the same mind, I highly recommend Pathfinder: Kingmaker, it has a very unique blend of genres and features city/nation management in addition to the excellent combat....

    Witcher 3 vs Skyrim

in Gaming Discussion on 10 February 2020

TW3, easily so. The writing is great, as is the voice-acting, TES games are notorious for their poor writing and VA. Quests are on another level; Skyrim quests are basically run to the quest marker, slay everyone in the dungeon, go back and get ten gold pieces. Motivations, characters, and objectives are all stylized and shallow. Almost all quests are variations upon the same thing, over and...

The PS4 Won The Console Generation By Being Boring: Can The PS5 Do The Same?

in Gaming Discussion on 21 April 2019

KLXVER said: They won by not trying to fix something that wasn't broke. Absolutely agree with this, they built and maintained what the mainstream console gamers wanted and it paid off. Plus, they've had a slew of 1st party gems this gen, and also focused on solidifying their reputation as a company with a vested interest in keeping single player alive and well, with great results.
