Forums - Sales - Which system will sell more in 2026: Switch 2 or PS5? (Poll reset)

Which one will sell more?

PS5 17 28.81%

Switch 2 42 71.19%

Total:59

According to Chris Dring, Switch 2 sales in the UK jumped 154 % month on month in March and Switch 2 now has more than 50 % market share of console sales in the UK as of yet in 2026:

So even before the PS5 price increase, Switch 2 is on an upward momentum in strong PS countries like the UK.

That's not quite what he said.

"Nintendo accounts for over 50% of all consoles sold in the UK so far this year"

So this includes Switch 1 sales

As you should expect with a new console.

Given price increase, going S2. Unless Nintendo follows suit.

Switch 2

Nintendo will follow, I am sure. The question is when. I won't be surprised if within a month we get price increase announcement. I don't see them keeping this price for the whole year.

Will the S2 be hit with AI pricing?  Does AI use mobile chips and LPDDR5X ram?  I honestly have no idea.  The ps5 uses GDDR6, way higher bandwidth.  I would guess, quite randomly, the S2 ram isn't useful for AI, bandwidth is way too low.

There has been a lot of question mark about Switch 2s appeal in Europe from people here and on other gaming forums. It seems this mostly proves that what Switch 2 has been lacking has been appealing games, as soon as they release appealing games in Europe, they get a sales boost.

Not too sure I’d be so confident in this prediction— Nintendo has been pretty firm in fixing hardware costs. E.g. whereas PS5 and XBSXX have seen three/four price hikes over the past 12 months alone, Nintendo has only bumped software, accessory, and NS1 costs.

That said: Perhaps you could make an argument regarding accessories, software, and possibly even NSOnline, but judging by the low NS2 price tag (especially in JP), I’m inclined to believe Nintendo is currently trying to prioritize a low hardware price tag being that the install-base is currently being built.

But who knows… never know with Nintendo. If you had told me they’d be as bold as to charge $55USD for Kirby Amiibo and $80USD for MKWorld, I would’ve called you crazy back in 2024.

Switch 2 uses worse RAM, storage and node than PS5, so even if they will bump the price eventually, the components the Switch 2 uses are worse across the board than the ones the PS5 uses, which means the price increase will be smaller for Nintendo than it was for PS/Xbox.

Also not the most surprising thing.
