Forums - Sales - PS5 Ships 84.2 Million Units as of September 2025, Ghost of Yotei Sells 3.3 Million

probably more than 90 million by the end of the year. I believe that Sony will exceed expectations for the fiscal year

Crossing 90M in the next report. Which means Astro's Playroom is as well lol.

3.3M in a bit over a month for Yotei, but it's sold to consumers not shipped, pretty good results.

It's probably not hitting 10M like Tsushima eventually crawled to, but I can see 8M or maybe even 9M, which is great!

It's definitely hitting 10m, it will reach 5m before Christmas arrives. And will probably end next year around the 9m mark.

It may not reach Tsushima's actual LT total (15m+ & counting) but it's passing 10m with ease

Looking at the UK market for example it's pretty much remained top 5 physical sales since launch. This week it's No.7, 1 below battlefield & pushed down by new releases but it will jump up again next week. After the holiday it will be at /approaching 6m and will still be the flagship exclusive going into the summer. (Sorry Saros)

When did Tsushima hit 15M?

Edit: Seems like it sold 13M, as I keep forgetting these games now eventually come to PC too, lol.

But it was just shy of 10M after 2 years on Playstation, which I was projecting to Yotei... but I forgot it will eventually be on PC too, even as I expect far less sales there than Tsushima must have got too.

So yeah, maybe it can reach 10M in the future indeed.

I really didn't expect it to be up YoY again and match the PS4 so this is a surprisingly great quarter. I don't think it'll match the last holiday but it'll for sure be notably closer to the 18.5m of the last fiscal year than most were expecting. Perhaps Xbox console sales becoming irrelevant is starting to really help the PS5 and that'll be even more the case going forward with another price increase and Halo coming to Playstation so that combined with a strong 2026 line-up means the PS5 could very well have a better last stretch than the PS4 did.

As a result a late 2028 release for the PS6 looks like it'll be no issue at all if that is what Sony would prefer, the PS5 would last till them just fine. Even if it's 2027 though the odds the PS5 sells more than the PS4 are looking a fair amount better than they did earlier this year. Also this could easily just be a coincidence but with such a big adjustment while the Switch 2 was basically spot-on I wonder if the PS5 is harder to track right now for whatever reason.

I bet Sony are annoyed that they delayed it again.

Interesting how different one's guesses can be. :)

If had to guess, I could swear I could hear Sony clapping their hands once GTA6 was delayed right into Black Friday/Christmas season 2026.

I am really wondering here:

In last year's October, November and December, Sony had officially shipped combined 9.5m units.

What if, in their upcoming Q3 report, hardware shipments either stay flat (which would be great already!) or, as in their Q1+Q2, are even up again?

That would put total shipments at 93.7m units as of December, 31st 2025. Minimum.

They already had a killer app for that (wolverine), now their 1st half of the year will be much weaker. They essentially would of had 2 holidays if GTA came out in May

If that's the case, then they will probably choose to delay wolverine for spring 2027.

My primary threads:

Ultimate Showdowns: JP 2023 / JP 2024 / JP 2025 / 2025 / 2024 / 2023 / 20222021

Lifetime Showdowns: Global / Regional / Historical / YOY Charts / 150M+ Club Chart

Best holiday months / When will the Switch pass 160M? / LT expectations of: Switch / PS5 / XBSX / Switch 2

Yotei is definitely selling more than 10M+ lifetime lol.

This.

Ghost hit over 13m sold through in September 2024.
A year lateron... I wouldn't be surprised if its over well over 14m by now.

Tsushima should be able to break the 10m sold though range.
The thing is they said it had a budget of around 60m.

at 3.3m sold through, they probably already made a profit on it.

Depends if they released Wolverine before GTA6 it will have a decent launch and a good holiday season. So nut sure if delaying is better and they can always release it on PS6 anyways.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
