Yes, people are forgetting about this game, even though it's an absolute banger. I can see a lot of new Switch Lites being sold because of it.
We probably won’t see a Switch XL model to put the tiniest spark of life back into Switch sales like Nintendo did with the DSi XL to arrest the slumping sales trend.
Switch 2 has kicked off well. There’s less fear and anxiety about Nintendo’s future.

I think they'd make a TV-only model before they'd bother with a bigger handheld model. But as is, I don't think we're getting another model of Switch.
Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)
Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

I don't think we're getting another model of Switch, But it wouldn't surprise me to see one because the Wii mini and Game boy Advanced micro exist.
A TV model as a low price entry device would be a great idea. However, it would have made more sense in the 2020→2022 era when many people were staying home.
A Switch 1 TV probably should have come last year at the latest. It makes much more sense for Switch 2 TV, now. Switch 2 has the ability to partially replicate traditional multiplayer in online mode using the camera. However, I’d still say Switch 2 Lite is probably going to be the priority, since traditional multiplayer is still the main selling point when it comes to many of Nintendo’s biggest games including Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Pokémon.

The rule is all non-Nintendo systems, period.
I was pretty explicit about this. I even updated the thread title to make sure there were no excuses. We start allowing people to discuss non-Nintendo systems in any capacity and it will inevitably start devolving into platform warring. It was getting so bad that the thread had to be temporarily locked before we decided on that rule.
Just deal with it. This is not up for discussion.

This already kind of happened. Switch OLED is bigger than the standard one, which negates the need of XL model.

Unfortunately, there isn't a single case of a game released for a system that's been replaced bumping sales of that system by any significant amount. There have been a couple that moved a small amount of hardware. (EDIT: Technically broke my own rule using a non-Nintendo game on a non-Nintendo system as an example of software effects on hardware. My bad.). And while as mentioned the DS wasn't the GBA's replacement, by Q2 2006 the GBA had slowed down a lot and was averaging less than 10k a week, and while Mother 3 did triple sales from the prior week, that was only like 20k more units than the prior week. So, there is at least some precedent for a game being a system-seller that late into a system's life, but it's exceedingly rare and never results in any sort of huge, persistent sales bump.
However, the new Tomodachi Life game will also be on the Switch 2, and the last big cross-gen game, Pokemon Legends Z-A, boosted Switch 2 sales but not Switch 1 sales. If it does help we might see a few thousand extra Switch 1 units sold in Japan (where the series is most popular), which won't be enough to help the Switch reach any sort of big milestone.
