We'll be at the tail end of the RAM/NAND crunch by then, so I'd be leaning toward cheaper, but who knows the full impact of the new oil shock?

My guess: $599

They altered the deal and customers should be thankful, if they don't alter it any further.

I think they did a big price hike to future proof the price. I don't see it probable that it goes up again, and if it does, I don't think it will be more than $599 by January 2028.



Lifetime Sales Predictions 

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Yeah i think $599 will be the price of the digital bundled with GTA 6 later this year.  I think that would explain so much but I hope it doesn't mean GTA 6 is going to cost $100.  I think this bundle will persist for some time but by Jan 2028, the digital console will be 499.

Microsoft just raise the price for third time on the Xbox. It seems the race is who can raise the price more, Sony or Microsoft. They even expect one more increase next year ..
So again, anyone want to vote about the price of the PS5 by end of January 2028?

Sony has so far been behind Microsoft in the price increases. The most recent PS5 increase matched the current Xbox Series X price - $600 for digital and $650 for disc drive. At least in the US. From what I saw the PS5 became more expensive in Europe than the Xbox Series X.

From Xbox - "Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027."

Even Apple just announced they are increasing prices. 

If prices keep going up for storage and memory I can see Sony increasing prices yet again either late this year or early next year. But we shall see. Good thing for Sony is they have a good install base for PS5.
