Switch 2 goes back above 25k but only increased a bit so it looks like the general baseline could be in the 20's for the next period while the Switch 1 has its first sub 5k week so above 800k looked guaranteed this year but now it's up in the air if it'll reach 700k but either way this year will be it with it outright fully dying by early next year. Also just one more week till the PS5 starts doing decently YoY again.

New games can't come soon enough. Let's hope Starfox, and most importantly Splatoon Raiders, help the baseline go at least above 30k.

I don't see Starfox doing much at all but Raiders should cause a notable boost even if it won't be a Splatoon 4 level one. While no longer good its current sales are still fine so I'm not worried at all.

Because you didn't expect a price hike either.

Ns2 went up, can it (still) be out of stock?

As for ns1, if we look last year's numbers, it seems almost normal.

The trend was to be selling every week half and a bit more of what it was last year.

So we should expect 6.5k+,add to the equation the price increase and voila.

Caralho!

Why is a Greek swearing in Brazilian Portuguese? lol

To avoid moderation. 😅

Is the f word allowed? I don't remember. 😝

Also a friend of mine has glued it to my mind, caralho for every circumstance!

Honestly I have had no problem with moderation using fuck here, but it is very rarely aimed at a person when I use it, it's mostly for companies when I'm mad at then, so I wouldn't recommed you to tell it to other people, lol.

Caralho is indeed quite a common thing to say around here, it's pretty much not considered swearing on most cases I would say, more of a natural reaction to being surprised, but it does get used as a common light swearing too.

But thanks for the reply, I was considering you might be a brazilian living in Greece lol.

Switch 1 isn’t looking all too hot at the moment… ouch. Are JP consumers finally moving on from NS1? Was the price hike truly the nail in the coffin? (Or perhaps a shortage?)

Price hike was very large. Ranging from 25% to 36% depending on model. Much bigger price hike than the Switch 2 which was already large (20%)

The price gap between OLED and SW2 decreased from 31% to 25%. It's hard to justify not spending only 25% more for the next-gen console.

Would be like buying a $400 PS4 instead of a $500 PS5 in 2021 lol.

What was the difference in price between them, before the hikes ? (in dollars, in Japan)

Yea .. the whole gaming industry has gone down.. PS5 and Series are way worse than what their previous generations were, and for Nintendo well, Switch 1 hold up the things quite well, but overall the downward trend may continue with Switch 2. Either way it's not looking to improve. Gaming overall is on a lot weaker state than it was 10 years ago, let alone 20..

I’d agree from an economic perspective though definitely not from a software perspective. Indies and third-party have really pulled through these past six years: Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate, Tears of the Kingdom, Astro Bot, Pizza Tower, Mina the Hollower, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and so much more.
