Switch Lite, one of our hopes for reaching 160m, continues to rise compared to last year.

Nice catch, didn't see that. In fact, it's really just the OLED that is down, even the OG Switch is ever so slightly up YOY.

True, I didn't realize that. It's interesting to think that the people who used to buy the OLED version are now the ones getting ready for the Switch 2.

It Takes Two making the top ten is unexpected, but well deserved and cool to see.

Switch did well to keep up with last year for as long as it did, even for a few weeks after the reveal of its successor.

With the first sub 40k week in over half a year the impact of the Switch 2 continues and it fell behind last year in February or March as I expected. It'll still sell really well for at least the next several weeks though with it potentially getting a bit of a boost next week and the impact probably not increasing more till some time after the big April Direct.

And ouch on the PS5 declining the week before Wilds releases and despite having a new release at number 1. The PS4 increased the week before Worlds launched so that's not a good sign. It got a boost of 90k the week that released so the same as that would have the PS5 reach 100k but considering the very different circumstances to then it's safe to say the boost won't be that big but 50-70k seems doable. Also I wonder if this could be the last time the PS4 has a game chart in the top 2. That happening despite it being 11 years old is kinda wild.

(wasn’t NSW below 40k the prev wk as well?) also, not directed towards you Curl, but it is interesting how “revealing the successor would not impact sales figures” is all the sudden being proven wrong. Idk why ppl were so resistant to this concept? Revealing a successor will slash-and-burn predecessor figures...that’s almost always been the case. Didn’t happen for 3DS->NSW nor GBA->DS, but that’s because Nintendo didn’t market them as successors, but rather “third pillars”.

Ah yes, the classic PS5 decline in Japan when a major game launches. The only thing that's missing is a Switch boost; that happened so many times last year that it was starting to become an amusing rule of thumb.

I wonder how low the Switch weekly sales will go when they open up preorders for the Switch 2. Will it go down to 20K or lower by then in Japan? Given that Legends Z-A is slated for late 2025, Switch won't have any big game for most of the year as well.

I think the lack of games in general is hurting the Switch at least as much as the Switch 2 reveal. More third party games than ever skipping the Switch, and fewer first party games than ever is getting released on Switch, and the first party games getting released are mostly pretty small remaster titles of old games.

Nah it just barely did 40k last week, the previous week is in the OP and Shaowlink93 always posts a comparison to all previous weeks and years of the Switch in these threads.

For the resistance it's cause a portion of the people wanting the Switch to beat the PS2 and in general sell as much as possible are being irrational with there being ones who seem to genuinely think that Switch sales somehow won't heavily decline after the Switch 2 releases which is of course absurd but every group has its share of people saying absurd things, most aren't doing that.
