With the holidays coming up fast, and the Switch dropping it's sales this year in Europe to 1.7M for the period of January - October, compared to 2.7M last year for the same period, and the successor coming next year, how much do you think the Switch has left in the tank for the European market? It most likely won't reach the PS4, but I will put chart here anyway. It's at almost 37M with October sales included (since we don't have full data for November as of this moment).

40-41 million.

40M-42M give or take. Some market do definitely better than others there. Dépends on how much Nintendo is still willing to invest into the current Switch before it switches up its gear for the next system.

I think Europe is also more price sensitive than other territories meaning Switch has prolly the best potential for an entry point system, so it'll sell for a good while nonetheless.

How the Switch 2 does in Europe will be interesting to see since while the Switch has done great there it's not sold amazingly well like it has done in the US and Japan. There should be a somewhat over 10m gap between it and the DS in Europe when all is said and done so there is definitely growth potential there to take steps to try to get it up to DS level. If it's just another Game Boy level success then that'll still be a strong result.

If I mentally extrapolate that line I come up with about 41M. I'll vote 41-42M. Seems right, about 4M-4.5M more. A good result, but a ways under PS4 which did really exceptional here.

Given the strength of Playstation in Europe, for Nintendo to be somewhat competitive there is a great result in itself.

Not just somewhat, the Switch is gonna become the 4th best selling console ever there so Nintendo is now not far behind Playstation in terms of strength in Europe. In fact with how the PS5 has been selling there there's a real chance both the Switch outsells it.

I think the chance that Switch outsells PS5 is rather big. It will not be able to touch the PS4, but launch aligned the gap between PS4 and PS5 is already bigger than 5 million. Hardware revenue however will be far in favour of Playstation 5.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

If some of the rumours end true and the generation continue to 2030, I can see PS5 matching or even exceeding PS4 sales in Europe. Worldwide too.
It depends however, if next xbox release really in 2026 and PS6 follows it after that in let's say 2027 then PS5 isn't making it for sure.

If the PS6 releases in 2027 I'd give the Switch a really high chance of outselling it though I think a 2028 release is pretty likely which lowers the odds a lot. How high the deficit is compared to the PS4 still makes that scenario possible though.
