The point is, the PS5 Pro is not out of stock. Nowhere in the world. Also not in Japan. I can walk in a store today and buy a Pro. No problem. The stock problem with the PS5 has been resolved back at the Start of 2023.

Some people trying to find excuses when a beloved system sells below their (and their favourite company's) expectations. Can't we just agree on the fact, that PS5Pro might have some sort of sucess but not in a way people expected, without trying to find excuses like "too expensive" (already discounted in UK), "out of stock" (scalpers having a hard time selling it even below the launch price)... i mean should I post anymore?

The PS5 was out of stock last year for 1 full month before the Slim released, because Sony cleared out the stock of the old FAT model. Because of that 4 weeks in a row the sales were going way down every following week, as you can see some posts above where are the numbers for every week of the PS5 for every year, you can check for yourself. So 4 weeks in a row almost all of the people who wanted to buy PS5 couldn't because Sony didn't stock the PS5 for entire month in JAPAN before the release of the Slim model. That's why the week Slim released was so strong, not only because it's a new model, but mostly because the PS5 was out of stock for entire month.

Also this is not excuse this is a fact. I don't care how the PS5 or PS5 Pro are selling. I like the PlayStation yes, but I like it when Sony really tried and showed something not what they show with PS5. I like the years of PS2 and PS3, and even to some extend PS4. Not the PS5 system or console generation. Just because I like the older ones, does not mean I like the newest one or that I will make some efforts to defend it or excuse it. To be frankly honest it sells very good, PS4 level on it's own. I don't even know why or how. With the poor games it has compare to the few previous generations, it should be the worse selling PS. But it isn't.

Of course a console model being replaced is out of stock. But the price says nothing about it's sucess. The PS2 was overpriced as well at it's launch, but as we know as a fact it was a sucess. The PSVita had the same launchprice as the 3DS, yet it lost. The Gamecube was cheaper AND technical superior to the PS2, yet it lost. The price tells you nothing about sucess. People knew the PS5Pro would not be a McDonalds meal for easy takeaway. People could save money. About the Disc Drive: Many Slim owners already had it so these costs we can subtract in many cases. Its not like they knew the price since november 7, if you understand.

Yes the PS5Pro was sucessfull, but sales obviously where not as high as Sony (or te crowd) expected. Otherwise they would not be shy releasing numbers. Enthusiasts will get the system first. But when they have it sales will go back to normal.

Comparison for Mario & Luigi first week sales:

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA) - 63,839
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (DS) - 133,229
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) - 220,055
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (3DS) - 108,005
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (3DS) - 50,105
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (3DS) - 28,163
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey (3DS) - 9,178
Mario & Luigi: Brothership (NSW) - 63,441

Second weakest non-remake/remaster launch in the franchise? On NSW? That's no good...is it possible Mario RPG fatigue is finally settling in?

Perhaps they could have spaced it out a bit better over the Switch' lifetime. 3 of them within 12 months is a bit much. Also 2024 has been a super busy jrpg year. There is no lack of options.

Considering the potential of digital sales, there's always the possibility of a good enough ratio that it'll be around Dream Team sales anyway

What remains to be seen is how it'll perform. Over the course of the next 2 months. M&L is arguably the weaker selling Mario RPG series so this isn't too shocking, but the fact it was the only original release of the 3 recent RPGs leaves perplex to what the market wants. It certainly could be a matter of potential fatigue at this point.

Anywoo, the 20%-40% ratio sold is what's got me slightly less worried because it means they also have their stock ready for the big season. There will be plenty to go around.

In any case, I do think Brothership is up to a good start nonetheless if you look at the international market.

@Signalstar
Of course there where serval weeks where the PS5 was up YoY. I am sorry if i was misunderstood. But the same week last year was in fact stronger, despite the Pro.

Italics: Tell that to fedfed. That was the only point I was trying to make with my post. Yet you butted in and told me I was wrong.

Bold: I never said otherwise. Again, my post had nothing to do with this week's sales or the Pro. I have no opinion about PS5 Pro's sales.

You are the one who seems keen on downplaying the PS5 Pro's performance, going out of your way to bring it up in completely unrelated posts.

In my opinion you should stop posting if you can't comprehend simple posts and follow along with the conversation. It really irks me when people tell me I am wrong when I am not. Then I feel compelled to correct them because if I leave it unanswered they will think they are wrong and not learn anything.

Again, that's just my opinion. It's a forum and you're free to keep posting as much as you want.
