I'm in!

Will be adding somewhere between four and seven new games this year, including a couple new additions to my top 10! Four new additions are guaranteed, while another three I'm still debating the placement of. As usual, all of them are indie games and that makes it difficult to participate in the Discussion thread since nobody can ever guess my picks, but I gotta be honest about what I like. Last year I participated in the Discussion thread by doing write-ups on my top 10 favorites, so I figure I'll do the same this year, but just with the pair of new additions to my top 10 since the rest already have write-ups. I may also post a revised write-up on The Last of Us Part II (which, spoiler that will surprise no one, remains my all-time favorite game) since it has recently taken on a new dimension of meaning to me and only continues to gain more value over time in my mind.

Few people really care about my list per se, so I see no reason not to just spoil what the aforementioned new additions are. The guaranteed ones are Misericorde (Volume One), Butterfly Soup 2, Pentiment, and A Space for the Unbound. The other possible additions are Pizza Tower, Neon White, and Humanity. Exact placements are yet to be determined, so I guess you'll have to scope out my post on the official thread for that. (Except you, racoon. You're special, so you'll get a sneak preview.)

I quite like seeing how many games off your list I recognise. From the new mentions I'm moderately familiar with (and can easily picture in my mind) Penitment, Neon White, and Humanity. I also recognise Pizza Tower and A Space for the Unbound from OpenCritic.

Recognizing them by title is the real challenge, isn't it? Anyway, glad to know the work is of some interest.

The other two are visual novels and qualitatively more obscure, but those two (Misericorde and Butterfly Soup 2) are actually the ones that will make it to my top 10, a lot of which is down to some of the very, very best writing in this entire medium that I've seen to date tied together with really unique premises and themes that strongly sustained my interest throughout and left an impact.

I've got a question about a specific game, does the Link's Awakening remake for Switch count as a separate entry? Never played the original so I'd only include the remake in my list.

I'm in this year too

So far we've been counting them both as one game, last year there were people who listed it on Game Boy, some people who listed it on Switch, and some who listed it on both, they all counted towards the same game. I'm open to change that if anyone's willing to have that discussion

I wasn't gonna do it this year since I didn't really think there'd be any change from last year, but having just gone through and played all the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters and Final Fantasy XVI this year, I can say my list has been updated. And while I have flirted with Mario RPG and FFVI being my #1, replaying the pixel remasters made it clear VI remains firmly atop that list.

so yeah, I'll sign up. I think I have a pretty good, updated list.

Sadly I'm not done with Tears of the Kingdom yet, but I know that will 100% be on my list next year. What a truly wonderful game that is. Oh, and Mario Wonder as well. Damn, this has been a great year for games. My only hold-out is that Mario RPG Remake comes out after the deadline.

@mZuzek : How do you want to handle Overwatch? Is Overwatch 2 counted as a separate game?

When your sequel is so underwhelming people aren't even sure if it counts as a new game ^^

Plus the fact that it erased the original at the same time.
