I see. I really would like to see a comparison between the forecast numbers for DS shipments for every year after the 3DS release and the actual shipments the DS managed to pull out

No point, it was discontinued after that.
It missed the target by few units, 150k.
If you wander in gaming forums, you will see people mentioning that tomodachi life living the dream is depleted. FRANCE, UK, GERMANY
And it has become a meme in TikTok (meh).
Nintendo lowballed it, which is normal though.
Interest in new software fizzles out when the successor hardware has released.
For f@CK sake, why they post earning results 1 month and 1 week after the quarter ended?
(may 8th)

I think they need some time to gather all the data from the previous quarter and organize them to present them to the stakeholders

Oh, really?
Is it such a time consuming process?
I had the notion the keep weekly stats and then pile them up.

We won't know TL:LtD sales data likely until August (when Q1FY27 data is dropped), though maybe Nintendo will make mention of launch figures... 500k physical in JP alone does make for one of the biggest debuts of the entire Nintendo Switch generation. For being a post-NS2 release, that is extremely impressive. Makes you wonder how big it would've been during a time like 2020/2021... easily would've gone on to become a 10 million seller. Perhaps even 20 million.

I've added more things I think they do during this ~1 month period between the end of the quarter and the release of the sale report, and there are probably way more things I don't know they must do

Exactly.
As for the time frame of reale, perhaps it's an outlier and doesn't actually suffer the post successor release fate.
It's the highest opening in Japan for the title and also pushing some hardware sales this late.

FY 2011 (April 2010 - March 2011): Forecast - 23.5M, result - 17.5M
FY 2012 (April 2011 - March 2012): Forecast - 9M, result - 5.1M
FY 2013 (April 2012 - March 2013): Forecast - 2.5M, result - 2.35M
FY 2014 (April 2013 - March 2014): Forecast - 200k, result - 130k
If Switch's final fiscal years have drops such as those last few fiscal years of the DS, then Switch 1 is cooked. The first big drop is from 15.70 to 10.80. The next one is now, from almost 11M to just 4M. If that doesn't change, then we will have fiscal year ending March 2027 of something like 1.5M

Can Tomodachi Life Living the Dream be the Switch's Pokémon Red/Blue in a smaller degree? hehe, that would be funny to see. My youtube feed has been flooded by Tomodachi Life shorts with people laughing out loud playing it. It got me thinking in buying a copy for me, something that I had no intention whatsoever until now
