Do you guys expect the Super Mario Galaxy movie to help the Switch 1's sales considerably or do you guys think the impact will be minimal?

It seems Nintendo is focusing purely on Switch 2. It makes the most sense at this time. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo discontinues Switch 1 with the way ram prices have raised..

Don't think the low bandwidth RAM inside the Switch 1 is terribly expensive as its not the kind of RAM an AI data center would want for starters.

Having a promotion with Galaxy 1/2 and the Switch 2 just makes sense as a no brainer, frankly that's not even that great of a deal, lol. Only $20 off of up-ressed 15-18 year old games.

Again young kids still need an entry level game machine, Switch Lite is fine for young kids, a Switch 2 is a really premium device for like a 6 or 7 year old kid to have IMO who just wants to get into the Nintendo ecosystem. You don't need to be spending $500+ (w/game) for that parents especially when a lot of households are struggling. If you have a young kid who's Mario crazy after seeing the movie but aren't swimming in money, man get the kid a Switch Lite with Mario Wonder or Odyssey or Galaxy 1/2 ... a Switch 2 is something they're not going to properly appreciate at that point.

Need to know how many Switch 1 are sold until today??

I will add 1.8- 2 million by January 2027 , that means it will surpass PS2 this december??

Switch shipped 155.37 million as of December 2025. We will know on May 8 what has been shipped as of March 2026.

Nintendo's forecast for Switch is 4 million for the fiscal year ending March 2026. If Nintendo hits that figure exactly Switch will be at 156.12 million shipped. Nintendo's forecast for the following fiscal year will tell us if it has any chance of topping 160 million. If it is high enough I will start doing a monthly sales comparison with a certain other console.

With the release of the March 2026 sales data, I've summed every Switch month sales from April 2025 until now, and the result is... 4 million units sold! 4,040,723 to be more precise

We shall see where it actually lands. The plan is for us to close the gap between shipped and sold pretty much every quarter at this point. Though even once Nintendo stops production it will still be sold for a couple more years.

If the switch can hit its forecast for fiscal year ending march 2026 and it can just sell half the amount every year that will mean it will pass a certain console in... well lets see

2027: 156.12 + 2 = 158.12
2028: 158.12 + 1 = 159.12
2029: 159.12 + 0.5 = 159.62
2030: 159.62 + 0.25 = 159.87
2031: 159.87 + 0.125 = 159.995
2032: 159.995 + 0.0625 = 160.0575

Itll take until 2032. Thats not even that long from now. So all nintendo needs to do is sell half they did the previous year for the next 6 years and its guaranteed

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

With all of these the point that someone (I found him, it was @Soundwave) made about marathon vs sprint, will be killed. It won't be no more " for 8 years Switch sold so much more " cuz by the time Switch reaches the other console, it will be 15 years vs 13 years lifespan. Or switch will have sold about 150k less units for the same time of 13 years .. It then can even be "switched" vice versa, and to tell that for 13 years, the other console sold 150k more units than the Switch and Switch needed 2 more years to get there.
