Forums - Sales - Is there even a mass market for next genn console's anymore?

A question i really starting to think about, is there a mass market for current and even moresoo next gen consoles when the next xbox or ps6 will be 800 till 1000(heck i can even see it being even more than that!)

Sure the big gamers will get it but thats not the casual mass market.

At those prices? Not a chance. We've seen how much sales have fallen even at $600.

The PS6 and Project Helix need to be delayed until 2028 or even 2029. The belief is the shortages will improve in 2028, but you never know. All these damn AI data centers being built.

2028 ? This should be the default plan .. Now the extended one, with the delays because of all the shit, it should be at the very least 2030.

I agree 2028 should be the default earliest PS6 and/or Project Helix launch. Hopefully prices come down at least a bit by then. But yes 2029 or 2030 I am fine with. With that could be enough time to help PS5 match or outsell PS4. But sales are already dropping fast after the increase to $600.

Gaming hardware is screwed. Switch 2 is not gonna stay at $550, PS5 ain't staying at $650.

Now is not the time to launch a new generation. Sony can coast on the over 90m PS5's they've already sold. Nintendo however have to somehow build their installbase over the next few years.

Nintendo could afford too subsidise the hardware since the Switch was a money printing machine. With all their branding out in movies and theme parks I doubt they have much of a choice.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Microsoft and even sony could do the same thing, but they don't they want more and more profits to keep their investors happy i suppose?!

Switch 2 will already be subsidised. Right now they're probably losing almost $150 per unit on that language locked $370 Japanese model.

Analysts predicted before launch it cost $330 to produce, right now it's probably risen to the $500 mark and MS are saying they expect memory prices to double again by next fall lol.

No. Even if I could afford it (I cannot) I am done with new consoles. Once PS5.SX and Switch 2 are no longer supported. I am full time retro gamer. Fuck all this nonsense.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I bought a BNIB Xbox 360 the other day to add to the collection, retro mostly all the way.
