Forums - Sales - Is there even a mass market for next genn console's anymore?

Unlikely lol

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Any company that plans to release a console next year is out of their minds

2029 should be the target

With these prices no. Theres a market, but significally smaller.

Hell no! Hardware sales will take a nose dive in 2027, and PS6 won't sell outside its launch window. I don't think we've seen the end of it, prices will continue to rise for a while. Funny ass generation.

I would love to say no, but honestly, after seeing how much people have been willing to pay for the current gen consoles, I'm not so sure anymore. High prices will definitely have a large impact, but at the same time, those that are able to pay don't seem to mind it too much, even when the prices are high.

It’s gonna be a slow couple of years for console sales before prices come back down (at least partially). It’s ok. PS5 and Series have sold the lion’s share of what they would have sold either way. It’s possible that Nintendo will have to hike price further, but they have the advantage of using less storage and RAM. We’ll just have to ride out this memory crisis.

Nintendo may as well go full crossgen for a while and take advantage of the Switch 1 playerbase. Because the Switch 2 situation is a catastrophe in the making. NAND cartridge and LPDDR prices are out of control. LPDDR has it worse than DDR which in turn has it worse than GDDR.

There needs to be a shift in strategy. The ocean is as blue as ever, and the red sea is only growing more bloody by the day. Now is the time for Wii/GB-style innovation, not AI hyper-realistic hardware.

Unless the AI bubble bursts and suddenly hardware is dirt cheap, we might as well keep this generation for as long as possible.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I agree with this! More focus on fun and good games than chasing"graphics" we are at a point that graphics  will almost always look really good heck look at infamous second son that game STIL looks amazing!

They need to stretch out this console genn a lot longer i would say ps6 2030 is perfect, just perfect.
