Trunks, do you think that the PS5 might run out because people are buying up the old stock?

If we would only knew what the future will be back then .. we would love the time back then rather than complain about it, by putting ps3 and 360 songs.

By the way something very on point even now from the first line - " step 1 you make your console cost the most " (750$) .. this song can be somewhat true even to the present times .. with PS5 to some extent.

All 3 have now raised prices of their consoles (minus Switch 2 - for now) due to the bad market conditions.

Here are the new PS5 prices:

  • PlayStation 5 – $549.99 (Previously $499.99)
  • PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – $499.99 (Previously $449.99)
  • PlayStation 5 Pro – $749.99 (Previously $699.99)

Here are the new Xbox Series X|S prices:

  • Xbox Series S 512GB - $379.99 (Previously $299.99)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB - $429.99 (Previously $349.99)
  • Xbox Series X Digital - $549.99 (Previously $449.99)
  • Xbox Series X - $599.99 (Previously $499.99)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB - $729.99 (Previously $599.99)

Here are the new Nintendo Switch 1 prices:

  • Switch Lite - $229.99 (Previously $199.99)
  • Switch - $339.99 (Previously $299.99)
  • Switch OLED - $399.99 (Previously $349.99)

This sucks.

They made sure it still 50 USD less expensive than XBOX. Me thinks they are partially eating some of the tarrif costs to keep their console less expensive than their direct competitor

I was kinda thinking they might wait till next year to do this but I suppose sooner makes more sense business wise. At least the increase isn't big like with Xbox though safe to say PS5 sales will still slow down notably starting next month over there which is rough since the US has been where it's been doing the best. Also anyone in the US who can afford a Switch 2 right now no issue, is certain they'll get one at some point and doesn't want to wait for a better model a few years from now should really get one soon cause a price increase for that within the next year is probably likely.

Considering Microsoft doesn't care much about selling Xbox hardware any more it's less that and more to avoid PS5 sales outright tanking in the US I'd say.

OTheR cOunTrIEs wiLL paY tEh TarRifS tho!

People complaining about the Switch 2 price might want to get off their ass and find one before it goes to $500 USD w/o game.

The PlayStation division is more profitable now than it ever has been in history. They didn't need to do this, but sadly they could because there wasn't enough competition to stop them from doing so. To me, it feels like a lack of competition price hike rather than a necessary one. Happens in Europe a lot and Sony does it because they know they own Europe practically.

Just because the division is profitable doesn't mean any company is going  to eat $50 out of their hardware margin. That's a significant loss in margin.

Yeah companies were going to "eat" the tariff cost ... just like they ate the inflation cost from COVID ... nope. Average consumers will pay for it like they always do.
