Switch 2 is super popular, wow

Around the Network

Nearly 18k is pretty darn good for a system that's been replaced.

With its successor so hard to come by, the original must still seem a decent alternative for those who don't want to wait.

The real question is who will reach 7 million first???? NS2 or the PS5?

If the ps5 averages 5k a week the switch 2 would need to average well over 300k a week to reach 7 million first.

The debate is real more about number like 7.5M. Will the Switch 2 sell 6M more before the PS5 sells 600k more ?

Yeah, I think 7.5m is a good number for comparison; it's impossible for Switch 2 to cross 7m first and absolutely certain that it will reach 8m before PS5.

At this rate, I wonder if Mario Kart World will beat MK8DX total sales in Japan.

In fact, if those sales keep going on for a while, maybe even AK:NH could be threatened on the throne.

I think the question is: How long will it take the Switch 2 to overtake lifetime sales of PS5 in Japan? Given current trajectories, i would expect it to happen in 2026, Pokemon gen 10 launching on Switch 2 next year will probably take the Switch 2 over PS5 there and then at the latest.

Switch 2 is catching up very quickly already. After more than 1 month on the market Switch 2 already has an install base that it took PS5 a good way into 2022 to reach in Japan.

If they manage to get stock, holidays will be massive
