Oh, how can we possibly live with some stupid comments not getting hidden. I hate the forums because nothing gets hidden. It's like we should just ignore the bad stuff or rebut it.

Anyway, I've been a vocal opponent of the downvote system, but it turns out that recently there've been few articles I've felt the need to comment about, because I hadn't even noticed the downvote system is gone.

I didn’t say they need to get hidden, just commenting on how dumb those comments were.

Yeah, bring backs dislikes, too many troll comments are getting green numbers now.
Don't hide them necessarily, but let the red number indicate people's distaste for them.

This bug has been around probably for a year if not more. Why this doesn't get fixed? When you quote someone you get that strange ugly symbols?

You're right. So I fixed it.  Any previous 'quotes' won't be fixed. But further quotes and posts will be fixed.

Some things are easier to fix than others. You can't tell until you narrow it down to where and when.

I'm not sure I even knew about this one.  I typically read a post. Quote it.

I don't quote it THEN read it.

That's what this thread is for. Bugs that can be fixed.

Yep.  Digging all through the code going "is there where it's being encoded wrong"? "Or is it here"?

You can tell it's encoding from just looking at it - but finding out why is another issue entirely.
