PS3 put up a good fight, but its last stronghold has finally fallen.
Switch is now one of only 4 non-Sony systems ever to beat a Playstation home console in Europe.

EDIT: And it's tied with PS1 as of these numbers, so by now that's two down.

Switch vs Wii Sales Comparison in Europe – January 2023

This monthly series compares the aligned European sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Wii.

The Wii launched in Europe in December 2006, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

Switch Vs. Wii Europe:

Gap change in latest month: 270,359 - Switch

Gap change over last 12 months: 2,273,896 - Switch

Total Lead: 480,023 - Wii

Switch Total Sales: 31,088,619

Wii Total Sales: 31,568,642

January 2023 is the 71st month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for in Europe. During the latest month, the Switch caught up to the Wii by 270,359 units.

In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the Wii by 2.27 million units. The Wii is currently ahead of the Switch by 480,023 units.

The 71st month for the Nintendo Switch is January 2023 and for the Wii it is October 2012. The Switch has sold 31.09 million units, while the Wii sold 31.57 million units during the same timeframe. The Wii sold current Switch sales in month 65.

The Wii sold 33.12 million units in Europe during its lifetime. The Switch needs to sell another 2.03 million units to outsell the Wii in Europe.

PS5 vs PS4 Sales Comparison - January 2023

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

PS5 Vs. PS4 Worldwide:

Gap change in latest month: 445,670 - PS5

Gap change over last 12 months: 3,440,809 - PS4

Total Lead: 4,965,261 - PS4

PlayStation 5 Total Sales: 31,767,146

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 36,732,407

January 2023 is the 27th month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 4 by 0.45 million units.

In the last 12 months, the PS4 has outsold the PS5 by 3.44 million units. The PS4 is currently ahead of the PS5 by 4.97 million units.

The PS5 has sold 31.77 million units in 27 months, while the PS4 sold 36.73 million units. Month 27 for the PS5 is January 2016 and for the PS4 is January 2016.

The PS4 crossed 40 million units in month 31, 50 million in month 38, and 60 million in month 44. The PS4 has sold 117.07 million units to date. The PS5 is 85.30 million units behind lifetime PS4 sales.

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S both launched in November 2020. The PlayStation 5 launched November 12, 2020 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, and the rest of the world on November 19, 2020. The Xbox Series X|S launched worldwide on November 10, 2020.

PS5 Vs. XSX|S Worldwide:

Gap change over last 12 months: 5,062,695 - PS5

Total Lead: 11,083,512 - PS5

PlayStation 5 Total Sales: 31,767,146

Xbox Series X|S Total Sales: 20,683,634

January 2023 is the 27th month the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 0.80 million units.

In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 5.06 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 11.08 million units.

The PlayStation 5 has sold 31.77 million units in 27 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 20.68 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a 60.6 percent marketshare (+0.3% year-over-year), compared to 39.4 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-0.3% year-over-year).

The PlayStation 5 is currently 4.97 million units behind of the PlayStation 4 when you align launches and the Xbox Series X|S is ahead of the Xbox One by 1.17 million units.

Total Combined PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Sales: 52,450,780

In January 2023, the gap grew in favor of the combined sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the last month by 0.62 million units.

In the last 12 months, the PS4 and Xbox One has sold 2.91 million units more than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are currently behind by 3.80 million units.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in their first 27 months sold a combined 52.45 million units, while the PS4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 56.25 million units. Month 27 is January 2023 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while for the PS4 and Xbox One it is January 2016.
