Doesn't matter as it was verified by Shawn Layden himself and he would have knowledge of that information. This was already discussed before amongst the 312 pages of this thread, move on..

Shawn was ex-employee. Thus not official Sony. Does not count. Move on....

Oh okay, Tober said it doesn't count so that's that then. Glad you cleared that up with your expert knowledge.

EX President and CEO of SIE America and EX Chairman of WW studios with inside information from the 32 years he worked there until 2019 so it's as official as it gets now stop embarrassing yourself and stay on point of the thread.

Keep counting the days and the data as it comes and we will all see if Switch hits 160M or not. I am not going to bicker with a Link avatar about believing other platform numbers. You want to bitch about that stuff go to Twitter, the mods have already addressed that. So keep that up and see what happens.

I'm not technically a mod, but you are both crossing the line a bit too much here. You can always make a separate thread to discuss the lifetime sales of the PS2. This thread is specifically on the Switch selling 160 million or more lifetime.

The Switch vs PS2 charts are a fine place for that

Mods, please be lenient. I haven't made any reference, even before the general warning.
Let me set this out once amd for all.
Ps2 indeed sold 159.5-160.5m (what's the average? 160m)
Maybe Sony didn't sell every produced unit (the nebulous for some 160.53m sticker) .
How much ?
If it was a million, we would hear about it from investors complaints, I assume...
Sony combined ps2+ps3 2012/13 shipments, since ps3 sales started to  "defoliate".
Based on ps3 reaching 80m in November 2013. Ps3 either sold 11.5m-12.5m, leaving 4
4-5m for PS2, pretty much sony shipped profusely what's left In emerging markets, I could still find ps2 in Greece in 2014 and having familiar people acquiring one then.

Also 155m as of March 2012 was rounded down, it was 155.1m.
I strongly believe PS2 sold 160.
Let's focus, my fellow nintendoers, in our great desire Ns reaching that target and first and foremost let's stick to month over month results and shipments.

I know youre trying to be fair and balanced and all, but that is not the point. Talking about that console and that manufacturer and how much theyve shipped is off topic from the thread. It doesnt matter if youre trying to be fair, this isnt the place to discuss that. I personally dont care but im just saying that is what the rule is there for.

This holiday sure will be interesting, with Europe's last breath on the Switch's sale. Depending on how much faith Nintendo puts on this region adding to the fact it won't be able to ship more units to there, we can see a high shipment to Europe, more than we would normally expect, which would contribute to the 160M mission. The only argument against this is the 2 million shipments goal Nintendo set for themselves in the begining of the current fiscal year. When the set that number, they probably already had thought on how to deal with Europe and its new battery regulamentation

Exactly same sentiment here on everything.

I have another concern other than the 2m forecast, current sales in japan.

I m repeating it again and again lol, one week of a big hopeful leap in the beginning of September in Japan, 11k+ and then another dive, and a record one last week.

I fear they don't  want to produce more to meet demand, make the effort to sell steadily 9k-10= instead of 5k?

Or finally saturation point along with price hike hit it really hard.

NS2 is selling 20k, so maybe it's irrational of me expecting  Ns1 to sell half of that weekly.

Or a new thought, famitsu maybe over-correcting a past erroneous estimation.

According to vgc, sales increased somewhat month over month in Europe and remaining strong in row.

What if that big 199 euro sale is exactly the opposite ? Not doing new shipments but clearing out the last shipped units from previous 2 quarters that are still unsold in order for Nintendo to be sure that there will be no stock left by February because they would not be able to ship or sell new ones after that?

I think we should see the 11k and 4k sales as outliers, at least for now

I do recognise that, thus my first paragraph asking for mod leniency etc.

I perceive that some people miss some data.

I intend to post that information on the suitable thread.

Two members were apparently derailing the thread and probably don't plan to move on the right "place", so I felt I had to written these details here to be seen by them.
