Black friday deals-

PS5 Digital edition- 350 euros (150 off)

PS5 Disc- 450 euros (100 off)

Switch 2- 50 euros off both standard and Mario Kart bundle.

Yep the PS5 Digital is 2770 kr in Denmark atm (~346$).
That is a fantastic price.

Currently a Switch 2, cost almost ~4000 kr (like ~497$)

Europe is Sony’s strongest region and has been for a long time. It’s also Nintendo’s weakest region and has been for a long time. Switch 1 didn’t start off that strong in Europe either, momentum didn’t kick in til late 2018 or 2019 iirc.

When it comes to Europe, there is only 1 market where Nintendo has strong popularity, which is France. Everywhere else Nintendo is just not that popular.

« Not that popular » ?

It is popular, just a bit less than PlayStation in some Europeans country. Nintendo is really strong even in Spain, people forget the switch numbers in Spain ?

In our stores, you can test the Switch 2. Most of the general public's customers asked me, "Is this the Switch 2?" Frankly, I expected better for a €479 console from these customers. The price difference is too small to justify buying the Switch 2. As I said, I didn't say it wasn't selling. It's selling well, but not as well as I expected at the moment. Customers are more in the observation phase; they're also waiting for a big game that might convince them to buy it. And to clarify: there are a lot of Nintendo fans in France, and they're the ones who are mainly buying the Switch 2.

I think we should wait but let’s be honest we know the switch 2 will finish its sales between 100 and 150 million units. It’s just the beginning

I'm really getting tired of this constant whining about Nintendo "not being popular" in Europe. Nintendo is huge in Europe. Just because Playstation sells a bit better doesn't mean Nintendo doesn't sell well. People are talking as if Nintendo situation was like Xbox Series in Europe

Older consoles selling better than newer consoles IS THE NORM. For gods sake. Switch 1 was comfortably outselling PS5 for good 2 years EVEN IN EUROPE. Only by 2023 PS5 started outselling Switch 1

Yep. To put it in perspective, Switch 1 will almost reach the XB360 US lifetime sales in Europe. They are 42.7M, Switch has 39.5M shipped there as of September 30th. It will probably finish around 41M or something. So to say " not popular " on basically what the 360 sold in US, is a big mistake.

My primary threads:

Ultimate Showdowns: JP 2023 / JP 2024 / JP 2025 / 2025 / 2024 / 2023 / 20222021

Lifetime Showdowns: Global / Regional / Historical / YOY Charts / 150M+ Club Chart

Best holiday months / When will the Switch pass 160M? / LT expectations of: Switch / PS5 / XBSX / Switch 2

Yeah some people are going overboard here. The Switch 1 will finish only about 5m less than the PS4 which is the 3rd best selling console ever in Europe. The Switch 2 probably won't sell as much but it should still outsell the Wii and PS1 and do really well there overall. It is Nintendo's weakest major region but doing great there instead of outright fantastic isn't a big deal.

It's not "Just a bit" though is it.

No one here is being negative about the Switch 2, but we are being realistic.  Most of us here are Nintendo fans, but to try to paint a picture that in Europe Nintendo is only one notch below Sony is simply untrue.

PlayStation is utterly dominant in Europe.  Like Nintendo is in Japan.

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.
