I kind of agree with you that the sales doesn't seem to be great for Indy but you are screaming Doom when Nadella and especially Disney are happy with the results and seem to want more games...

I know FMS is popular on PC but I don't really know how much it matters, I tend to buy all my games on PC and then just play it on my xbox don't those count as xbox games sales?

I assume the chart includes purchases through Xbox store on PC.

A company saying they are happy does not always mean they are happy. I assume right now they are probably banking on strong results from the PS5 launch.

I would agree but I can't imagine disney calling it a succes, I imagine if it is a failure we will for sure not see a next Indy game. Oh well..

Indy is not doing great on numbers alone but literally has a 4 year dev cycle (efficient) Is mostly an FPS Adventur/Puzzle game. I think it's sales expectations are not as high as some may expect but PS is definitely needed to it a "hit" but I think it will also be short lived there. I think modern audiences want a 3rd erson action adventure ala Uncharted

The IP hasn't been relevant for 20+ years, so it won't necessarily compel sales high if the core game is quite niche

That's the reason why I am not touching this game when it releases on PS5. I prefer 3rd person over 1st person. So I will buy and play Gears when it comes over but not Indy.

Xbox really is going full force behind digital only with nearly 90% of Xbox's sold not having a disc drive. At this point the next Xbox having a disc drive would be kind of a shock. The PS5 Pro falling behind the PS4 Pro is also notable. The high price didn't seem to impact the launch much but now that the enthusiasts have gotten one that's gonna harm the appeal for more typical buyers so it probably won't help as much this year as the PS4 Pro did in 2017. Also is there an estimate for how much the consoles would've sold compared to last January if they both had the same weeks?

The numbers for the US in January are:

  • PS5 - 250k
  • Switch - 125k
  • XBSX - 123k

Given the weekly numbers, if we add 1 more average week the numbers would be something like this:

  • PS5 - 310k
  • Switch - 155k
  • XBSX - 152k

I was meaning a proper sort of one but if that isn't available then that should hopefully be close enough.

I'm working on the full report right now but here is hardware data:

Total: $205M (-45% YoY in terms of dollar sales)

  • PS5 -38% YoY
  • NS -53% YoY
  • XS -50% YoY

Units: PS5 > NS > XS
Revenue: PS5 > XS > NS

Brutal numbers..... huge drops all around in the US.

What sort of week do you expect ? What do you have in mind ? If you mean the first week of January then we can simply add those numbers and you get the following:

  • PS5: 387k
  • Switch: 206k
  • XBSX: 186k

However this is not exactly fair, since the week has 3 days, and "proper" for me means also fair. Of course, depending on what portion of the sales are in December, and what in January we can shave 3 days, and those figures can go back a little to:

  • PS5: 300-320k
  • Switch: 150-170k
  • XBSX: 140-160k

My numbers in the previous post were average numbers based on the 4 weeks, but if you want natural continuation (since every week for each system is down from the previous one) then:

  • PS5: 305k
  • Switch: 149k
  • XBSX: 146k

Comparing the exact same four week period for both is what I have in mind but what you've shown should be close enough. Either way it'll back to normal for February so long term doesn't really matter.

Circana is out and all I can think about is where the hell is Indiana Jones? on Xbox it's being beaten by Flight Sim 24 and FH5 in revenue, two titles also on gamepass, in it's second month? What is going on??!? By most accounts it's MS's best title in a long time and it's just gone poof even compared to other gamepass titles. I don't understand how, MS just can't catch a break recently.

Have you played it?
