So .. Switch sold almost 149M as of January 4th 2025, according to VGChartz estimates. The poll was restored and you can vote again now! When do you think the Switch will reach and pass the DS and the number of 154.02M? (the results from the previous poll are in the bottom of the OG post).

I voted by the end of Q3, but maybe after Black Friday (so late November/early December) in a pinch.
It is possible that it takes until around Christmas, but that would require a steeper drop than what's likely.
Switch should hit 160 million in 2026 or before Q2 2027. If Switch doesn't get price cuts, it will probably only sell about 1.5-2.5 million from 2027 onward until it's discontinued.
It's starting to look like Switch could outsell my prediction of 161 million units, but I'm waiting to update that until after Switch 2 launches.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

I think it will pass the DS in shipments by the end of June 2025. Likely not going to make it for this FY (end of March 2025), but end of June 2025 would still be great! And then it's a final sprint to the last stop!

Time to renew the thread and the poll. Vote now! Keep in mind the slowdown it has due to age, saturation and most notably it's successor - the Switch 2. It dropped to barely selling over 100k per week in March, and further drops are expected for the months ahead. Also keep in mind that the poll and the thread are about SOLD units, not shipped.
