In most RPGs (say Baldur's Gate III) you select an action (say shoot an enemy with a bow) and then the game decides randomly what happens (critical miss) often with a dice roll or another form of simulated randomness.
Slice & Dice turns this convention on it's head by rolling the dice first, and then let you make your decisions of what to do with these results. Well, the gamegices you a helping hand by giving you a few re-rolls of dice rresults you don't like. The foes are rolling first too, and you can see what they do in their move, which character they are attacking and how much damage they are dealing with that. Your task is to prevent the damage and possible death of your heroes by applying the results you got.
The game itself is a succession of increasingly difficult encounters, until you reach a final boss, but each encounter presents itself as difficult puzzle to solve. Once you beat a group of enemies you are also rewarded with an upgrade, which either is a level-up and new advanced class for one of your heroes or a magic item. Both are random and you get to choose between options.
The classes are definedby what action the sides of the dice are presenting. And this goes beyond simple damage, shields (defending action), healing and mana for spells. Many attacks have interesting additional effects, which you can take into consideration.
Similarly items most often switch or modify some sides of the dice in a certain way for the character they are equipped.
The game holds an incredible amount of unlocks for reaching certain goals, including new items, classes and also a lot of game modes.
If you are interested in turn-based RPG, which game offers a take which is so unique and so interesting, that you have to try it.
The game offers a demo if you are unsure what you will get. As a hint also, if you buy it on itch.io, you will get the PC and the android version both (although buying it in the playstore for mobile might be more convenient).
