New Super Mario Bros 2. The release date was relatively close to NSMBU so I'm calling that simultaneous enough for my guess.

Heh. It is incorrect, and I have to admit I didn't think about that game at all when I wrote the hint, but I see how it fits quite well. Or does it, NSMB2 and NSMBU released a couple months from each other, mine released a lot closer than that.
