@XtremeBG, For PS5 (2025) worldwide-PS4 (2018)- 18.2M or Switch (2022)- 19M would be a much more interesting battle than Wii (2010).

PS5 will probably finish anywhere between the two competitors I've put (17 and 21M), that's why they are there for, when there are 2 competitors to the current console. As I wrote in the original post, if PS5 does a lot better than that I can always change the table to the DS'06 (21M) data.

  • Some competitors were removed from the charts, since it's clear by this time, they are way far away, like PSP's 7.5M year for the Switch is not happening, that one was changed for the Wii year of 5.1M, or the 3DS's 2M year for the Switch in Europe, since its even behind the way lower 1.4M year of the PSP there.

  • Some competitors were removed from the charts, since it's clear by the half of the year, they are way far away, like DS's 20M year for the PS5, or the PS3's 2.2M year for the Switch in US, since it was way up above the current line (which by the way is expected to slow even more), as well as the PS4's 7.4M year in Europe which seems like impossible at this time for the PS5 (which is even behind the Switch one of 6M).

The funny thing is that in some markets like France, Xbox series X/S lifetime sales is tracking very closely to Wii U lifetime sales. Meaning in that some bigger markets, Xbox series X/S is a Wii U style failure.
