Hard to believe how Sony is failing in Japan.

PS5 Pro has been selling as a niche product since week 2 and that trending only got worse in december. And even worse, PS5 can't put a SINGLE GAME in the top 10 for third consecutive Xmas-season week. Are you fu***** kidding me? That's a DISASTROUS situation for PS5 inside the japanese developer industry, a very financially stressed one.

And to make it even worse, the machine seems to enter in a sells decline, in Xmas season, even BEFORE Switch 2 has been presented.

Don't expect any third party PS5 exclusive from Japan. It won't happen. That's over. PS5 is barely selling anything there.

...

Something is very wrong in that company. Very very wrong. Since many years ago. This is not "a blip", this is just unacceptable: they do not have any Series competition there.

And i've been trashed and critisized when i predicted that.😂

But but but its sooo expensive... And if it gets cheaper and still does not hit Nr.1 it will be a "different audience" again.😂

But if a console in its historical best years with a freshly released AAA GOTY candidate AND a brand new consoleupgrade does not even manages to stay Up YoY (this goes for WW too!!) and cannot even outsell an 8 years old handheld thats about to be replaced with very few first party titles and a bunch of WiiU ports, anyone can see where Sony is standing. I think they should release PS6 in 2027 latest and not wait till 2028. If they wait till 2029 it will flop hard and it will be better to keep it!!

Crazy that there is a pretty big chance that BOTH Switch and Switch 2 will outsell PS5 in Japan next year.

Edit: Update: We now have 2023's split for week's 52 & 53 for Xbox Series X|S. 579 + 580 is now 540 + 619

Speaking of Week 51, 52, 53 shenanigans. The next Famitsu report won't be untill january 13th, so we're gonna have to wait a while.

Switch breaks 3M+ for the year this week and Animal Crossing breaks 8M+ physical.  Mario Party is on fire.  I thought DQ3 would be the top selling game in Japan for the year, but there is a good chance Mario Party will cross it's YTD total next week.

Base Switch model isn't selling nearly as well as the other two models.  I'd like to see Nintendo drop the base Switch model next year and then give price cuts to the other two models (or at least bundle a game in).  I think they could keep the Switch gravy train going just by doing this.

Switch "2" for sure. The question is the current Switch. I predict 1- 2 million, maybe a bit more...

Over 100k for the week and over 3 million for the year with a week to spare is a brilliant result for Switch.

Mario Party is on a rampage, while despite a lukewarm opening Brothership is showing good legs.

Second consecutive week that Nintendo switch lite has almost sold double compared to last year.
Indication that Nintendo switch is in dire need of price drop?
Also, they can keep selling that form indefinitely...
I guess it's easy to be produced, no joycon no cradle.
Nintendo switch won't say its last word anytime soon.
Does this year have 53 weeks?

I can absolutely see a scenario where after Switch 2 releases, Nintendo discontinues the base Switch 1 model, cuts the price of the OLED model to $300 and then they run with Switch Lite at $199, Switch OLED $299, and Switch 2 at $399.
