I will copy and paste my post from the other thread about that ..
What if that big 199 euro sale is exactly the opposite ? Not doing new shipments but clearing out the last shipped units from previous 2 quarters that are still unsold in order for Nintendo to be sure that there will be no stock left by February because they would not be able to ship or sell new ones after that?
For reference Switch 1 has shipped 40.14M in Europe till end of June, and has sold 39.96M till end of September according to VGChartz. If none were shipped last quarter there are still ~200k unsold units. If there were some shipped there will be 300 or 400k left to sell (depends on what were shipped in the last quarter that ends in September), but for reference the last two quarters shipments to Europe were 120k and 110k respectively.
If we have to do the math, Switch 1 is selling between 30 to 40k each month all year. Put another 30k for October. Put some 60k for November, it's often double the normal month (last year was even lower). Put some 100k for December, and you got a possible sales of around 200k more. Exactly about what the shipments to sold gap is. Some ~20k for January doesn't make a difference.
