Can that not be done like on PC where you can get like a screen in VR and watch whatever you want on it?.

Yes easily but that just puts it on a virtual flat 2D cinema screen. I have no idea whether stereoscopic 3D blu-ray playback is supported on PC, nor does my laptop have a blu-ray drive or any drive at all :/

Seems 3D streaming is very limited as well, no mention of VR headsets.

It worked so nicely on PSVR, full screen 3D stereoscopic blu-ray playback, however the resolution of PSVR was just too low to fully show the movie. PSVR2 has the resolution for 3D blu-ray, but I'm afraid the home 3D movie ship has sailed...

Yeah you can watch 3D movies on Pc pretty easy using a number of different apps such as Big Screen etc. I thought it would be the same with PS5 Vr.

I hope so but there's no word on it yet. Most likely not at release, maybe Sony will patch it in later. However since the ps5 doesn't support 3D blu-ray playback I'll keep my expectations low. It will show the movie in 2D on a big screen but I can do that anyway.

Is 3D porn still around? It was crude on PSVR, definitely needed work unless you're into giants lol. 3D you tube also looked way off scale. The Joshua Bell VR experience is still the best I've seen, the whole 3D experience thing kinda died down after that.

Joshua Bell VR did some trickery to make it possible to move your head instead of the fixed point perspective you normally get. Pretty convincing and made normal 3D look like crap :/ A 3D rendered movie with that tech would be cool. Parallax is half the 3D immersion and not possible in the cinema until holographic projectors are invented.

Shame it's not earning that much from China due to the situation there currently. Maybe a re-release later this year or in 2024 over there could give a nice boost.

I mean it's still on track to make around 2 billion dollars. Sad to think that it's only been out not even 2 weeks yet (During the holiday season) and already blew past the 1 billion dollar mark making nearly 100 million per day and it might be seen as a disappointment, financially.

I mean I originally estimated it would hit 1.2 billion, but that estimate was like in 2012 or something right after Avengers came out. with how much people hated the first one (Well, the extra shitty online contingent), I figured there was a chance it wouldn't even hit 1 billion, with the first being an aberration. but no, this one's gonna settle on around 2 billion, and I'm okay with that.

Personally, I loved it more than the first and am 100% on board for whatever comes next. I really loved what got set up for the future.

I just find it so hilarious that James Cameron has such a hate-boner for Marvel and other superhero movies yet The Way of Water reminded me in many ways of Marvel movies (a strong core narrative with enough questions to entice you to see the next one), but Endgame in particular (Length, the distinct 3-act structure with tonnes of sci fi shit and action and a proper blend of emotion and callbacks).

I keep hearing about this culture war between Marvel fans and Avatar fans, but like, I don't think I've actually met someone who was into one but not the other. Most of the communities I hang around that discuss movies are happy for both. I dunno, I just think it's all quite silly. I loved both, personally, and I'm glad that marvel continues to do well and so does Avatar (Even if it might not live up to the expectations JC has for it.)

I didnt even know PS5 didnt support 3D bluray. That kinda sucks as why would they take that away from the people who own 3d blurays?. Are you 100% sure on that as i thought it would be part of the standard of bluray?.

Anyways 3d Porn has been pretty great on PC . Pretty much all 3d works great on PC using a vr headset much better then it used to look on my old 3d tv (I no longer have it now). I hope companys keep releasing 3d movies as i do believe with the advent of VR it will be a whole new market for them that will grow.

No it doesn't, neither does my Series X. And I just read PowerDVD has now also removed 3D playback.

Last night I wanted to listen to a CD but only had the ps4 in that room, ps4 can't even read CDs. ps3/360 gen was the last gen with good media players! The PS5 doesn't support CD either, Series X can play audio CD after you install Groove Music from the MS store. The app has been discontinued since 2017 but it should still be able to play audio CDs.

As for video formats, ps4 can still read and play most of my mp4s, ps5 just gives me a black screen (It should support MP4 but apparently not the HD format I rendered them in). I haven't tried them on Series X yet but I better hang on to my ps3 for all my local content!
"Here's the Simple Fix! As mentioned, PS5 only supports MP4 (H. 264/AAC). So the direct solution is just re-encoding those unplayable MP4 files to PS5 compatible standard." Lol simple fix, the simple fix is, use ps4 or PC or TV USB port...

I hope VR catches on more, 3D movies were just getting out of the "Look at this thing bouncing right in front of your fucking face" stage. Killed again by using it for shock effect rather than immersion. James Cameron seems to be doing it right atm, but might be too late :/ 3D porn, the last hope lol.

Well, so much for the “Avatar 2 is going to bomb” crowd. 1.17 billion USD in a matter of days. Already the 3rd highest since the Coronavirus outbreak and 23rd highest grossing film in history.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Overtook Top Gun Maverick as the highest grossing movie of 2022 today and also became the 11th movie to make over one billion dollars outside North America.

Finally went and saw it, first movie I've seen at the cinema since 2021.
It was a good popcorn flick just like the first movie; it felt a little overcooked and restread a lot of ground, but it was competently put together and as a technical accomplishment it's insanely impressive how many incredibly tricky effects shots it pulls off so well, especially when so many of them involve things that are very hard to get right like complex water physics and CG elements interacting with water.
It's no Citizen Kane, but as a good old fashioned blockbuster, it delivers.

James Cameron has confirmed it's profitable few days ago. We are getting the next 3 sequels!. Avatar 2 sitting at 1.7billion as of today!
