Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard for 69 billion $

Well this is just a tad huge. Not a fan of this consolidation.

I mean, unless he stops gaming a couple of years after Microsoft raises the price of GamePass, it will be a significantly more expensive hobby in the long run.

5 years ago I still spend about $1200 a year on games, and also $1200 a year on blu-rays.

Thanks to gamepass and xbox on pc (not needing an xbox anymore) and all the other deals, my spending is down to $400 a year on games.
Thanks to streaming and the movie and tv industry getting worse all the time my spending on movies/tv series is down to a few hundred a year.

I wonder who is filling in the gap? People that are buying DLC MTX and are subscribed to 5 different streaming services full time?

I got the premium dlc for FH5 for example

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

If this means we can have the Activision of yesteryear, that published diverse and great games like Blur, Prototype, Singularity, Starcraft... I would be happy.

Activision studios used to have a lot more freedom, before all being relegated to be CoD/Warzone support studios. Maybe CoD won't need to release every year. As concerning as consolidation is, overall if this happens then I'd say it as a positive for the gaming industry. Kotick will leave too, which is also great for the industry.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of massive acquisitions but MS picking up Activision will probably be far better for their output. I haven't been interested in them since the early 360/PS3 Day's.

If I were Microsoft I bring back the rainbow logo of Activision. Not just as a nod to their past but as a symbol of going forward of being more accepting and open to diversity.

Read my post again about me still saving money if they raised monthly fees to $100.

But why aren't you counting the extra money you spend after Microsoft raises the price of GamePass? Unless you stop gaming in the near future, I don't see how that isn't being short sighted.

I feel like we are in an infinite for loop of confusion. I just said I AM counting the extra money I spend after they were to hypothetically raise it to $100 a month, and even then I'm still saving money by not buying these games which I'd 99% be done with forever after beating.

They did.

>They could make Gamepass $100 a month and I still would have saved money looking

That's 7x more than it costs right now.

Actually that's 10x more for me since I do PC Gamepass which is only $10.

And that would tell consumers that only LGBTQ+ issues are the priority and every other issue (sexism against either gender, persecution of people based on political or religious views, etc.) are secondary, which is terrible. If a company wants to play social justice warrior, then they should have to fight all forms of discrimination, not just their cherry picked causes. Conservatives deserve just as many protections as liberals, Christians just as many as Muslims, straight people just as many as gay, the list goes on. Focusing on one issue to the point where the logo reflects that sends the wrong message. Especially when companies do it not to address that issue, but just as a pr stunt to get more sales, which many do during all those celebratory days/months.

It you can't beat them, outspend them...
