While monopolies are undoubtedly bad news for the video game industry, this acquisition could have some positive effects on Blizzard both culturally and strategically. Under Activision, every game had to be a billion-dollar franchise. Under Xbox, that will likely change

If this means we can have the Activision of yesteryear, that published diverse and great games like Blur, Prototype, Singularity, Starcraft... I would be happy.
Activision studios used to have a lot more freedom, before all being relegated to be CoD/Warzone support studios. Maybe CoD won't need to release every year. As concerning as consolidation is, overall if this happens then I'd say it as a positive for the gaming industry. Kotick will leave too, which is also great for the industry.
