Jumpin said: Mike Tyson is nearly 60. He requested 2 minute rounds because he knew 3 minutes would be rough. It didn't stop him from gassing in the second round. KOing a 27 year old who has shown he knows how to fight is a lot more difficult for him now than it would have been in 1988. Think about it, Tyson had severely declined by 22 years ago. Lennox Lewis toyed with him before KOing him. |
Yes he is old, and yes he requested those, because he can't maintain full fight of 12 round with 3 minutes each. That's clear. However the fact he is old, and does not have much stamina, does not turn off the fact that he could win by KO in the first or the second round. He had the power. All over the web there are videos and explanations how the fight was staged, rigged, and that Tyson choose the money over the fast win. And you deny all of that ?
Sure Paul can outlast him in stamina or longevity on the ring, but Tyson does not need outlasting or having enough stamina for the rounds past the 2nd, since he could easily knocked him out. He had many opportunities. Again, Tyson got paid, for the match to be what it was. Scripted. Tyson's power was always in the beginning of the matches. He does not need stamina or the young age, to be able to last till 6 or 8 or 10 round. And if it wasn't paid, Jake was done.
The fight with Lennox or even the previous losses has nothing to do with that.. First of all Paul is far from Lennox level in 2002. Second, Mike wasn't training enough for his 6 losses, and his personal life was a mess which also very much affected him in the ring too. Also for Paul he don't need to be prime like in 1988. He just needed the money he got payed for that rigged match. Surely Mike is weaker than himself in 1988, 1990, or even 1995 if you want. But he is still strong enough to knock out guy like Paul who only chooses old fighters and the one time he chose someone his age, he lost.
