Yeah seems like of weird to compare DS 2004 (~1 month, only NA/JP) to 2017 (~10 months, WW)

That's why I have a sales thread where the charts are launch aligned, and the years are compared correctly. Here is the specific chart for the DS vs Switch in Japan lifetime.

And as you can see Switch is making the 2008 level of DS's numbers for this year.
