Forums - Sony - Nearly 20 years later, how do you feel about the PS3?

I think it was Sonys second weakest console after the PS1 but to say that is a bit off cause mine could play PS1 games. I think everything dipped at the launch of PS3 and got back on track fairly quick and only now are we starting to see the crest of the wave, or at least for the last two or three years. I believe now is the worst time for Sony, just making so much worse decisions than even then and since they have no rival now we'll not get an upward ticket like with mid ps3. They'll do themselves into the ground cause Nintendo isn't direct competition and PC only a little so.

Forgive me for being triggered but did you honestly say you think the ps1 is the weakest console( as in you didnt like it)

Mind blown if so.

I loved the PS1. Loved the PS3. I just think every console is better than the last with exception that the ps3 falls below PS1.

Yeah I recently downloaded the Left Behind DLC for TLOU as well as Super Stardust HD on my PS3 before the store closes down and holy shit it was slower than treacle flowing uphill in Canada.

Great console, but even by the standard of the time that UI/OS was slow.

We have been spoiled now by SSDs. But even still, 360, PS3, and Wii U OS are so much clunkier than PS4's OS.

PS3 (especially the early phat models with PS2 support) is such a multimedia juggernaut held back (even once you got into the 2010s) by a sluggish OS.

Even at the time, the Wii and 360 OS were faster. But yeah, modern systems have definitely spoiled us in this regard.

I would not lump Wii U with 360 and PS3. 360 and PS3 OS isn't really slow at all. Wii U tho takes forever to go to the home screen from a game. Wii U OS is slow in any era. It's the reason Switch OS is so barren. It's snappy and removed the fat.

PS3's OS is quite slow when connected to the internet and playing a game. It was fine/smooth offline from what I recall.

Slow by modern standards esp entering PSN but I think people forgot how slow Wii U is. Even it's updates were slow. Nintendo put out an update to speed up the OS which was better but still was a 3 legged turtle crawling in a puddle of molasses on a winter day.

Doesn't come close to the ps3, in both first party and third party titles, what are you on??

If you mean exclusives from sony? Then your right.

If you ment overall then my ps3 vs ps4 collection says it.

PS3 vs PS4 was close overall, though I personally lean just slightly in PS3's favour as I thought that gen brought more great new IPs to the table like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Vanquish, Dead Space, Motorstorm, Resistance, Puppeteer, Enslaved, Binary Domain, Bulletstorm, etc.

But it lost the japanese games that massivly supported the ps4 + rise of indies.

In no way possible does the ps3 have more games, its not even close.

There were still some great Japanese games on PS3; Puppeteer, Vanquish, Dragon's Dogma, Shadows of the Damned, Bayonetta, Binary Domain, etc.

PS4 was stronger in that regard, but again I'd argue PS3 had better new IPs and that Western devs were a bit better overall in the 7th gen.
