Forums - Sony - Nearly 20 years later, how do you feel about the PS3?

The same as always, very good system with great games but the worst of Sony's home consoles.

7th gen in general, even with the high ammount of games in good franchises, is just really clunky overall, IMO is the worst state games were since the 3rd gen.

Too much bloom, too much brown and grey, unstable fps and frame pacing, stutter, screen tearing, so many performance issues.

That said, I can't stop buying PS3 games this last few weeks lol. Best pricepoint ever for games here in Brazil.

The backwards compatibility of the 60GB version was great - being able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games.
Sadly my own 60GB model stopped working when it had the yellow light of death.

Great machine.
Had a slow start, but had amazing games and free online.

After losing my Xbox, (RRoD). PS3 delivered a amazing generation of games for me.

For the first time ever the best home console of the generation was not the best selling home console. PS3 > Xbox >>> Wii

Alot of highlights , certainly more games, franchises, third party etc than what came on the ps4 and ps5. So many great games.

I realize it's an unpopular opinion but it's probably my favorite console off all time. I was a huge geek back then and the idea of having a game console that also happens to play Blu-Rays, SA-CDs and offers uncompressed 7.1 audio was insane. Did I mention it also plays three generations of PlayStation games? I did hope for more platformers but I was still busy playing Motorstorm, Ridge Racer 7, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Uncharted and R&C: Tools of Destruction. 2008 had titles like WipEout HD or MGS4 and in 2009 the floodgates have officially opened.

PS3 is actually my favourite Playstation personally, closely vying with PS1.

It's not perfect; I found the controller a bit uncomfortable and it got off to a weak start, but by the end of its life it had amassed an amazing library with tons of great games.

To me it's a rough diamond, where surface imperfections are made up for by a core of greatness.

I never owned a PS1 and only owned a PS2 (had like 3 games) for maybe a year so PS3 was the first Sony system that I fully invested in. The first party was so appealing, Sony were truly unmatched. I actually re-bought a PS3 a month ago and the nostalgia just hits, tho …. Installs taking FOREVER is definitely something that still annoys me. Performance wise tho some of the third party games on PS3 are fucking rough. Was also the gen arrogant Sony got twatted in the mouth, a Gen they rightfully and deservedly lost.

Ungodly slow by modern standards, or even by 2013 standards at minimum.

I just bought The Infamous Collection on the PS Store because the disc prices for the 2 games are similar or a little more expensive than digital and Festival of Blood is digital-only and a PS3 exclusive.

I bought it hours ago and it's still downloading. 54 Mbps is the max theoretical wi-Fi download speed for PS3. But it's said to usually download at 5 to 15 Mbps.

It was ungodly slow in 2006 esp when Wii and 360 games generally just booted right up. We had 30 years of games just starting. PS3 comes along and says wait a couple hours.

Yeah I recently downloaded the Left Behind DLC for TLOU as well as Super Stardust HD on my PS3 before the store closes down and holy shit it was slower than treacle flowing uphill in Canada.

Great console, but even by the standard of the time that UI/OS was slow.

Godtier sony exclusives, their are a lot of great games on the system even games gamers say it sucks(like genji)
Horrible performance for many games and the at that time downfall of the japanese domination of games on consoles.

Still i freaking love the system and still play it often

Ps3 fat BC is the ultimate ps console.
