I don't know. I never got much of the appeal of GTA period.

Its fun to run around, do some missions, and run from police. I understand how thats fun. But im not understanding the leap from that to what we are seeing with gta 6. There must be something else you can do.

Dont' wait for your consoles to break. It's like brushing your teeth vs paying for a root canal. Taking care of your older consoles so they don't break is expensive. Fixing them after they break is three times as expensive. 

That's a good point. Maybe in the retro section, you should make a long, comprehensive thread with bullet points for maintenance. I'm sure the interest is only going to increase from this point on lol

It's hyped because people don't know and are ignorant to the fact that most of the guys who made GTA 3-GTA 5 are gone. They don't know this is basically 343 Halo. They think it's going to be what the PS2 trilogy was. But it's not. The soul of the franchise left years ago. What we're getting now is corporate GTA. Sterilized, homogenized, shareholder product.

interesting. i saw a thread not too long ago about how its going to sell 80 to 100 million copies. gaming really has become a shell of itself if this is the effort that is going to achieve 80+ million copies.

Get a capacitor kit from Console5 for all your older consoles. Have a professional recap them. Replace the aging power supplies with Triad PSUs from FirebrandX's site. Don't use PSUs that overvolt or use less amps than the OEM PSU. Look up the PS2 laser mod that keeps the PS2 fat laser and slim laser from cooking itself. If you have an NES get the Nintendrawer so that you never have to blow into carts again. For 6th gen and later systems use MisterAddOn's Reflexvolt and NOT an OEM PSU! For N64 either get the old PSU recapped or pay $70 for a quality new N64 PSU. Keep your gaming room at 72F and 50% humidity so that the discs don't rot on you, and the staples in manuals don't rust. Pay to have the save batteries in game carts replaced with a battery holder so you never have to solder a new 2032 battery in again. Pay to have someone grease your console gears with lithium grease and replace any aging belts. Buy the brass replacement Dreamcast cog that makes the system 70% quieter. 

Also, if you have a GameGear, PC Engine, or Sega CD Model 1 GET IT RECAPPED IMMEDIATELY!!! The caps are all leaking and eating the PCB with acid right now.

Jesus christ, the code in the box was my edge but I can't support this. I'm not even a physical gamer but an all digital one. I have plenty of backlog to hopefully get through til they reverse this decision. I enjoy having those games like Divinity OS or Sekiro for example that I got back to. I want the 1.0 versions of those games and this is a deal breaker. I can't support nothing having the 1
0 versions of the games I love most. Sony will be just a tad bit poorer. Might buy a few indies but def no AAA, GTA6's 10 euro more was already too much and the rest will follow suit.

It seems to me, they are in cahoots. They are testing and have a plan.

I almost joined the site 20 years ago and in retrospective so much changed, espcially the 'Blu Ray' adoption threads seem all so dumb now.

Anyway in the end if people really loved physical they should have bought more but even third party companies aren't complaining.

The people who love physical have been buying it. As a lazy estimation, if a game iavailable at retail sells 10m, 3m of those millions are physical copies. This is simply me extrapolating from Sonys 4/5 digital figure and accounting for the fact the fact this includes digital only games. 

The physical market is still viable and large, but the vast majority of consumers are comfortable with digital and Sony & publishers benefit from pushing things to a monopolised digital storefront with no used market.
